Could it be useful to take 1 level of Inquisitor as a Rogue?

Advice

Especially with the Conversion Inquisitor. It would reduce the amount of stats you'd have to work with and greatly expand your apparent usefulness.

Anything is better than straight rouge.

Perhaps. It's worth a try I suppose. I like rogues with a few dips of sorcerer.

Not helpful. Rogue is a very fun and popular class, let’s stop this silly dissing of it. Unless you really do mean that anything is better than wearing just red makeup on your cheeks.

Back to the OP- Well, the problem is, you take an extra level of another ¾ BaB class. Unless your DM allows partial BABs and Saves from UA, you lose a BAB. You also lose access to Rogue talents, Sneak attacks, etc. What’s your WIS? Now, if your deity has a cool weapon or a Domain that really works then go for it.

If I was going to dip for a Rogue, it’d be Fighter or ranger.

The Exchange

Rogue, as a non-spellcaster, is great for multiclassing. (I'm running a Cavalier/Rogue... hey, I just heard somebody's head burst!) Inquisitor isn't a bad choice but - as DrDeth points out - the only really good time to "spring" to a different 3/4 BAB class is after 4 levels in the first one. Level 5 wasn't going to improve your BAB (or saves, generally) anyhow. However, if it makes sense in story to spring earlier, go for it - just bear in mind you'll eventually want to be Rogue 4 / Inquisitor 4 for mechanical reasons.

If you are a finesse* character, then you can take a nice deity, and judgements like healing allow you to be even harder to kill (which is often a problem GM's don't have much of with rogues, IMO) and take a fun domain like fire to gain more usefull ranged attacks. If you are a str. rogue you can take domains like destruction or strength and do more damage. It seems like a win win.

*Don't play finesse rogues. high str. rogues have proved to be 10x as effective in my experience.

I normally see more 2-level dips in Rogue for Inquisitors to get the Evasion to go with Stalwart, but a 1-Level Dip in Inquisitor might be worthwhile. I would definitely ponder an infiltrator archtype for someone who is primarily a rogue and picking up the Feat Judgement Surge.

Fun facts:

*Manuever master 1 level gives you a free Manuever feat and a free attack to use it.
*Dirty Trick is a Manuever
*It blinds people
*Blind people are sneak attackable
*Profit!!!
