if the symbol of insanity was set to trigger on "Looks at Rune" per Symbol of Death descriptor, would viewing it in a mirror negate the effect?
Also, in order to identify what it is, you'd have to interact with the rune, which if set to "looks at rune," would cause it to trigger correct?
Thanks for any help!

Heimdall help me! Not another mirror question! If any seemingly-mundane piece of equipment in the Equipment chapter needed a little more rules explication, it's the blasted mirror. Line of sight, line of effect, gaze attacks, light-related blinding/dazzling effects - it never ends. I'm about this close to announcing that my campaign has a massive global vampire conspiracy and that as a result, reflective objects of all kinds are a lost technology!
As far as this particular case - does the spell suggest that it requires line of sight? They usually do. If not, this spell can be set off by somebody using clairaudience/clairvoyance, right?

does the spell suggest that it requires line of sight? They usually do.No, no LoS. That's for casting, which seems to be different from triggering a Symbol.

Not as such: you need to be within 60'. Although... what happens when you're within range, but aren't looking at the Symbol directly, nor in a mirror... but instead you're scrying it?
What will those Vampires do then?

Sorry! For some reason it always comes up that a mirror is all powerful and can break all the magic via it's mundane awesomeness. Hence why everyone carries one :P
And i agree with VRMH, in that to identify it you need to see it and if it's set to trigger with "look at it" then it would still trigger. Mirror or no.
I think scrying wouldn't trigger it.
I just want to give the PC's a chance to identify it without making the encounter to hard or to easy. Guess it's going to change to read or touch.
Thanks for the advice!
