Is there a FAQ or something that states what the choices for animal companion are for the mad dog barbarian archetype? It does not explicitly say what is or is not allowed in the description of the archetype. This is mainly for PFS. I made one using Hero Lab and it let me pick from a lot of different animals. Hero Lab is usually pretty good about being accurate with the rules but I was looking around for something official and couldn't find anything.

War Beast (Ex): At 1st level, a mad dog gains the service
of an animal companion, using the barbarian's level as
her effective druid level. This ability replaces the rage
powers gained at 2nd, 6th, 10th, 14th, and 18th level.
Since it lists no restrictions, I'd say that any companion a Druid could have, a Mad Dog Barbarian could have as well. Though the usual caveat of GM get's final word still applies.

They delay your rage ability until level 4 for this AC you get at level 1, and you lose half of your rage powers (gaining them every 4 levels instead of every 2). You are literally weakening your ability as a martial character in order to put another body on the field.
So it makes sense design-wise that you could pick any animal companion you want (Well, within reason for the environment, I suppose; but that is boring-Dinosaurs 4 Life)
