I could really use some help with a Dual Gun wielding build for PFS.

Advice

Silver Crusade

I kinda want to build a ranger into a dual gun user but I am not married to the idea. I like to be unique with my characters. I do not mind being a little weak overall as long as i can do some cool stuff and I don't become a hinderance to my party.

Can anyone give me advice?

This'll help

Ranger may not be best for this, have you considered Gunslinger? Gun Training is quite essential.

It takes a few levels for dual firearms to kick into gear; you need a few key feats. Keep that in mind.

Misfires, you will have far too many of them. I have had poor success with firearm use by pure non-gunslingers but never tried a ranger. The most important thing to know is that the single level one deed you get from amateur gunslinger should be taken as "quick clear". If you've never used firearms, you will be amazed at how often you misfire and how easy it is for a broken firearm to explode. And since someone once thought they had a brilliant alternative, the "make whole" and "mending" spells have a 10 minute casting time so they are not effective alternatives to "quick clear".

I think a Gunslinger 5/Ranger 15 build could work. Like Arkwright said, you need Gun Training for one gun anyways.

However since this is for PFS, and you'll cap out at level 12; I don't think it's worth dipping into GS, you might as well go all the way in the class. Also, reloading will be a b&+$& assuming it's not an advanced firearm(which aren't allowed in PFS IIRC), and you'll need weapon chords either way.

It also depends on how you plan on getting multiple shots off at higher levels. All PFS legal guns require a free hand to get multiple shots with. Many PFS GMs are likely to choke on the free action abuse of weapon cords and that leaves getting prehensile limbs from either levels in alchemist or being a tiefling.

Silver Crusade

I have no advice for you, however...

I'd like to request a spot at the table for the first time your character is drunk and you draw your guns then declare, "I've got 2 guns, one for each of you." ala Doc Holliday from Tombstone.

Liberty's Edge

With Rapid Reload and Alchemical Cartridges, you can reload pistols as a free action as long as you have a free hand. Guns are so powerful because they hit touch AC, and you can even use double-barrel guns to get numerous attacks in a round. Having two pistols is seriously overkill, and it's impossible to do it without looking goofy as hell (eg using weapon cord, prehensile tail, a third arm), unless you have two of the amazing Pistol of the Infinite Sky.

Silver Crusade

Ok, no dual wielding guns then. Nertz!

Actually, you can have 2 guns in pfs, you just can't get shots off with both of them every round, as was pointed out, all the early firearms which are the only ones legal in PFS need a free hand to reload. You can only start with a single shot pistol or musket, and you have to be able to buy 1500gp items with your fame to purchase the 2nd pistol (never always available, even to gunslingers).

(I have seen the weapon cord/double barrel pistol cheese proposals, and as the weapon cord mentions not being able to use "fine motor skills" with one on, a black powder gun of any type is *right* out, and every GM I have ever seen deal with gunslingers has also interpreted it that way.)

Also, you must be a gunslinger of at least 1st level in PFS to have a gun at all, as guns are only available to gunslingers and the amateur gunslinger feat was illegal for any other class to take last time I looked.

Liberty's Edge

Yeah, it's painful as hell waiting to be able to get those double-barrel pistol in PFS. Will have to be level 3 or 4 by the time I'll have enough PP, so I'll have to use a move-action every turn to load a normal pistol (unless I want to waste a Rapid Reload feat for a normal pistol).

Well, there is one other option which was one people used in real life before metal cartridges, i.e. quick draw plus multiple pistols. It's expensive but it does work.
