Oh yes....

So can one hold the sword handle while its mostly sheathed or must it be drawn?

You aren't holding it if its hanging in its sheath. You have to be at least holding it in one hand.

Silver Crusade

I find this funny as my half-orc wizard with an arcane bond falchion cast many a spell and I, nor my DM or fellow players, noticed that part of it.

Glad to see it's legal now that he's dead :)

Uh oh, it says one hand, while a falchion is a two handed weapon. May have some issue there, ala the same wording with players who are super strict with spell combat. If the dm is willing to let you hold it in one hand without weilding it, you should be fine, definitely should ask prior to making the build based on the assumption that it's legal.

It's always bothered me that the Falchion in Pathfinder is two-handed.

Staffs are a two-handed weapon as well. How many staff-bonded Wizards are there running around?

What suggests that you can't hold a 2-handed weapon in one hand? Most weapons weigh less than 15 lbs even if they are 2-handed. It is a free action to switch from 2-handing a weapon to 1-handing a weapon, and vice versa.

What kind of action is it to remove your hand from a two-handed weapon or re-grab it with both hands?

Both are free actions. For example, a wizard wielding a quarterstaff can let go of the weapon with one hand as a free action, cast a spell as a standard action, and grasp the weapon again with that hand as a free action; this means the wizard is still able to make attacks of opportunity with the weapon (which requires using two hands).

As with any free action, the GM may decide a reasonable limit to how many times per round you can release and re-grasp the weapon (one release and re-grasp per round is fair).

Please note that it says "Hold" in one hand, not "Wield" in one hand. The reason this wasn't legal before was because the old wording said "Wield", so you couldn't wield a two-handed weapon and cast spells unless you had Still Spell.
