Uh oh, it says one hand, while a falchion is a two handed weapon. May have some issue there, ala the same wording with players who are super strict with spell combat. If the dm is willing to let you hold it in one hand without weilding it, you should be fine, definitely should ask prior to making the build based on the assumption that it's legal.

Staffs are a two-handed weapon as well. How many staff-bonded Wizards are there running around?

What suggests that you can't hold a 2-handed weapon in one hand? Most weapons weigh less than 15 lbs even if they are 2-handed. It is a free action to switch from 2-handing a weapon to 1-handing a weapon, and vice versa.
What kind of action is it to remove your hand from a two-handed weapon or re-grab it with both hands? Both are free actions. For example, a wizard wielding a quarterstaff can let go of the weapon with one hand as a free action, cast a spell as a standard action, and grasp the weapon again with that hand as a free action; this means the wizard is still able to make attacks of opportunity with the weapon (which requires using two hands).
As with any free action, the GM may decide a reasonable limit to how many times per round you can release and re-grasp the weapon (one release and re-grasp per round is fair).
