Wizard feats and taking experimental spellcaster

Advice

As i understand it, the best time to take experimental spellcaster for undeath is 5th level. Then at a higher level, take the extra word feat to gain access to accelerate + one other word (since they are lower level, you can get both). Is this right?

Assuming you have 5 feats to spare, what would be your first 5 feats as a wizard?

Won't work at 3rd as a wizard, you can't cast Undeath until 5th level, so that's when you have to take the feat.

Just a word of Warning: Before you get you're heart set on taking this route, be sure to get it Ok'ed with the DM, explain the ins and out's (that it is going to allow you to create component free undead 2 levels before you normally could). Be completely honest with the DM up front.

If you don't, its going to reek of cheese the second you start making no component cost undead at level 5, when by the CRB you shouldn't be able to do it until 7th (and then at 25gp/hd). Don't get upset if he retro-actively decide's its OP and not valid in his game if you're not upfront from the get-go.

Keep in mind I'm a pro-WoP GM and I'm STILL saying this.

Also clarify with your GM whether the undeath word can create variant undead. The rules are silent on the matter.

Yea, i meant 3rd level spells.

So can anyone tell me what their first 5 feats for a wizard would be?

That's not an easy question, question. It really depends upon what kind of wizard you're wanting to play. You can't go wrong with crafting, spell focus is always good if you're forcing the opponents to make tons of saves, augment summoning is good if you're doing a lot of summoning, improved initiative is good period, and even great fortitude or toughness are fine picks.

Heck, a wizard could get away choosing nothing but skill focus and still be one of the most powerful characters in the group.

And before that, clarify with your GM whether he or she is willing to incorporate the optional "Words of Power"-system.
