New discovery will be Infusion
Hate to be a party pooper, but I think Infusion is a level 4 Discovery?
But could easily be wrong...this is all coming from the guy trucking around in a breastplate without medium armor proficiency...so yeah...

Brother Silas Benedictine |

Updated in my profile. Raised Dex by 1 for the same reasons as Abi, and also put a few points into Linguistics primarily to represent the skill's applications in terms of forgeries (aka, written deception), which ought to be in his wheelhouse. Also put a couple of points into Knowledge (Nature) after returning to the vineyard and engaging with the locals in a very rare ritual to venerate Erastil that involves people wearing animal masks and Silas dressing up in a silver mylar holy suit and leading everyone in interpretive dance.
(No, but seriously, I'll post about things IC soon.)

Hugo Smith |

About the no 1s or 2s rule, how does this work with the higher HDs? being ensured atleast a 3 is vastly superior for a character with a d6 HD than one with a d12. I rolled a 7 so its not like it matters to me currently, but still.
And dear Gods Silas, put some pants on over those silver tights! I can see....EVERYTHING! Aaaarrrghh!
The eagle head dancer was cool, especially the part where he randomly pops up from behind the scenery, looks around, then sets off into a sideways shuffle. I lold.

Tomid |

Tomid will be taking a level of Dervish Dancer and continue to grow in his worship of Sarenrae.
He will put his ability point into Charisma and continue to become more charming and persuasive. :)
His skill points will go into Perform Sing and Dance, stealth, Perception, and Spellcraft (learning magic after all).

Hugo Smith |

My personal rule stands - no 1s or 2s - anything else is fair game. 3hp sucks the same whether you've got a d6 or a d12...it's still a 3!
Not true, it definetly sucks worse to get a fourth of your potential HP than it does getting half!
But I dont wanna argue about it (with a DM thats just fuel for trouble ;) ), 1s or 2s it is :)
Doc...Contraceptives? Really? We should call you "Dog" not "Doc", cause thats what you are :P

Grizelda Blau |

Lol "Humanis Maximus"...Maybe Hugo should put on a trenchcoat, grow a giant beard and tell Grizelda "Yer a Wizard Grizzy" then get on his motorcycle and fly off into the sunset ;P
I very nearly just rolled with Engorgio, but after Zinny's remark I just couldn't bear to do it... XD

Yes, you're looking at this from a "maximize my gain" perspective. I'm looking at it from a "minimize my pain" perspective, where the maximum is not important...it's the minimum that's key. (Yes, I've done a lot of study into problem solving/decision making methods and processes. The other two general strategies to approach and resolve a problem is "maximize my opponent's pain" and "minimize my opponent's gain.") Different strategies are applicable in different situations - think about the different way you play Hearts vs Poker vs Spades.
Sorry - let me step off the lecturn. You're right - I AM fuel for trouble! =)

Tomid is in. I may be headed down to a small con in Birmingham AL for the weekend, but I will not be so busy that I can't post some.
I take it that you are fine with him leveling in Bard/Dervish Dancer since I heard no protests. One problem he has, which will keep him somewhat ordinary is that he still has no BAB. He will have a few spells to toss around, but with a 13 charisma his DCs are not going to be too impressive so he will likely stick to party buffs.

Let me start by saying I do not want to seem confrontational, but when it comes to Pathfinder I have some borderline OCD when it comes to rules and my opinion, so ill say this and be quiet.
I personally as DM, usually run the minimum as a scaling value, with d6 rerolling 1s, d8 rerolling 1s and 2s, and so on. This is mostly because front liners (d10+ HD) are designed with an average HP roll in mind, and it only takes a couple of terrible rolls in the early levels to seriously cripple them. This is especially true for the typical Barbarian (which Hugo is not ofc) who relies solely on killing his enemies before they wear him down, usually sporting somewhere around 14-15 AC at the most while raging.
Whew, there we go, got it out of my system. Just to repeat, im not arguing, I just have to get my opinion out there or im gonna explode.
Also, I am in for every adventure. Assume that I am participating unless I chime in and say that I am not, when you ask. Rock on!

GM &rew |

Intellectual discussion! Not arguing... =)
I'm happy to hear you're all in...Zinny's new-found friend, who has not yet been revealed, wants you to stick around - as the target of her pranks ;-) And you are the perfect fall guy! Heck - you write most of it on yourself!!
And for the group - I'm adding in little perks and bonuses and fun stuff for your characters, but feel free to send me a message if you have any burning plot twists/lines you would like to explore and I'll see what I can do. I'm hoping we game for a long time - you're a super group and I'm soooo glad I took this game on!

Grizelda Blau |

I'm also striving to "get it right" and have OCD rule-lawyer tendencies, so please feel free to be yourself, and no need to refer to it as party-pooping when you do so. ^_~
The treasure chest may have been a stinker in disguise, but I still feel like I've struck gold to be gaming with this group. I'm definitely up for more. ^_^
I'm seeing Grizelda a like a cross between Merryweather from Sleeping Beauty and Professor Trelawny from Harry Potter for visual reference... short, dumpy, blunt, and even a bit surly. As she gets to know the group, she will likely only get worse! So do let me know if I cross a line. I'm up for any plot lines the GM's whims may favor.
I doubt there's much for Grizelda to purchase yet, but for future reference, how will we need to go about acquiring new spells? Also can she scribe scrolls or craft alchemical substances during down time? =^D

GM &rew |

For a while you can probably use the head librarian to continue to teach you new spells, but at some point you will need another teacher. That could be a sub-plot / adventure direction for you - or not! In a city-town the size of Daggermark, there would be a wizard of sufficient level to teach you more, but for the higher level spells you'd have to travel to the big city!

Hugo Smith |

Verella remembers Silas as such an, ahem, enthusiastic young man...
Haha, the innuendo is growing ever more thinly veiled with every passing post, its glorious! My only regret is, I seem to be getting outclassed in gutterspeak by women! Who woulda thought it.

Zinny Holbern |

..the coy playing coy...
I must tip my hat to you for the wordplay, sirrah.
I'll try and get up a post covering Zinny's week(s) later tonight-- I'm off to go GM and then play tabletop for most of my day...
Also, awww, Zinny as the back-haver.

Hugo Smith |

Eeeh, Hugos gonna need one of those too. He can barely even scratch his neck as it is with these biceps getting in the way all the time! Good think Hugo doesnt live in the information age, hed have to hold his mobile phone to the opposite ear!

Grizelda Blau |

Oh boy, another fitting for a female party member, and for a "fuller figured" woman this time. This might advance that special spark in Hugo just a tad bit faster...hows that saying go, "Come for the body, stay for the brains", or something to that effect?
If you were quoting Leslie Winkle from TBBT, it's "Come for the breasts, stay for the brains." ;^D
My weekends are a bit busy as of late, so I'm just checking in to say I'll get a post up tomorrow after midnight for sure. Hopefully sooner if I get finished earlier. Sorry for the delay!

Grizelda Blau |

This journey is getting expensive! Since we are not purchasing the cart or horses, wouldn't it make more sense to look at the charges for travelling by cart/wagon? Even a heavy wagon only charges 3 copper per mile.
Assuming Duvik's Pass is ~75 miles away, that would be .03 gp x 150 miles for the round trip, or about 4.5 gold per person. 100 gold is a bleeding fortune to these people, and the amount just doesn't seem feasible... even if split 7 ways, it's nearly half of our last reward! >_<

GM &rew |

I thought it was a bit pricey, too - but you guys have been getting lots of favors and deals so far :P
I took the cost of 2 heavy horse (not battle trained) and a wagon, for 435 gp total, then figured about 20-25% for rental. Feel free to turn it down =) I always have another option up my sleeve. it will involve a bit more writing for me, though, and work is kinda sucking my time right now so...may take a bit to roll with plan C...

![]() |

- but you guys have been getting lots of favors and deals so far :P
Technically we've been given a lot less than a 2nd level party should have, but that's fine considering that we're ordinary. :P

Hugo Smith |

The main problem with the normal wagon ride fees is that you are being driven by the owner. Handing over two horses and a wagon for people to go off to who knows where, without you being along for the ride, likely means you gotta ask for a steep price. Insurance if you will :)

Hugo Smith |

Tomid |

For the record I thought it was darn high too. Even the horse rental seemed high. Part of the problem is you are pricing horses. Mules are as good and are 8 gold each. Mules can be just as strong as horses and in general were easier to work with. A cart is 15 gold. A light Wagon is 50. A medium wagon is 75.
So for 100 gold we can likely buy a medium wagon, 2 mules, and tack.

Hugo Smith |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Ah yes, the trusty old mule. Many are the plucky adventurers who have purchased this noble beast to offset that most dastardly of villains, the dreaded Carry Capacity!

GM &rew |

Looked at mules - they don't have carrying capacity for a loaded wagon.
Sheesh - we'll go with plan C...might actually be a lot more interesting anyways...something about the travelling gypsies/tinkers heading that way and offering to 'give you a lift'...add Gossamer in and the trip is a whole 'nother mini-adventure and RP opportunity!!!
