Well there are currently two options that I see.
1: Silas has his epiphany once we get back to town, converting his levels to cleric. This one is unlikely at best.
2: Recruit!
I guess we have Tomid who can CLW a few times.

Gren Sanderson |

Thanks! He would definitely know Grizelda as he is an avid reader and books are a pricey commodity.
Grizelda would have spoken to Gren as he would regularly come and ask about new books. He's unkempt, shy and a bit awkward, but when someone shares an interest in a topic he comes out of his shell a bit and will gladly engage in discussion.

Grizelda Blau |

I remember it was one trait to begin with and a 10 point buy, but then we received story based bonus in game so it's 12 point now. Maybe we were meant to pick up a second trait down the road? Eh? Eh? *raises eyebrows hopefully*

Gren Sanderson |

Got rid of World Traveler as it didn't fit anyway (was from an earlier draft of his background).
Tomid, Gren shows up at your bar from time to time to buy brandy and beer which he likes to keep at his apartments when he can afford it. He is polite, but timid, and rarely stays to actually drink at your bar. You have occasionally had conversations about brewing techniques, during which the youth could get rather animated, but he is not good at small talk.

Tomid |

Tomid would ply his trade (Profession Barkeep, +9 diplomacy, +8 Bluff) to make you feel at ease and welcome, tagging your timidity to make the bar a place where you feel less shy and outgoing. Soon you are coming in more than you planned and telling him more about your life than you intend. >:)
Therapy at the price of a drink. Quite a bargain really.
You also note that Tomid is about town most any time something interesting is going on.

Grizelda Blau |

So hopefully Zinny won't knock Miz Blau out with The Fencepost after that comment, lol! Sorry, but Griz had been far too congenial lately. It was way past time for that 8 Charisma to jump out there and (at least unintentionally) offend someone. ^_~
So if Verella knows Gren, maybe she could become worried about Zinny being down the rat-hole too long and go and find him to send him down after her. It would be a real simple tie-in and would get Gren in the mix right away.

Grizelda Blau |

Well for Grizelda it was unintentional, but yes, all those lovely implications were contrived. Always fun to make Zinny blush and stammer. ^_^
I am still the queen of the unintended double entendre, though. Glad I got something posted, I'm in a much less fun mood now. Had to put my 10yo pet cat down this morning. Sorta sucks the fun out of everything...

Brother Silas Benedictine |

The baritone in one of the performance quartets I sing with had a corgi that had been with him for many years, named Cecil. Cecil got cancer and he made the decision to pay for chemotherapy treatment. I saw the expense and watched how he had to nurse that dog after every the treatments. Seeing Cecil have so much trouble afterwards was sad and scary, but everyone could sense that he knew his owner was taking care of him and was helping him feel better in spite of the dizziness and sickness. He beat cancer, too, and lived a couple of more great years. I hope you felt the same experience of a closer relationship with her afterwards.

Thanks Andy! *hugs* ^_^
I've lost a PC in my Ravenloft game and I'm sort of anticipating losing a few more. We've lost momentum and I'm hoping an infusion of fresh blood will liven things up. I'm looking for 2-3 proven reliable role-players (which is why I came asking here first!) to insert themselves into the world to help move the action forward. Check out the info below if you're interested.
This is an old Ravenloft mod, or I guess I should say it's based on it as I've done a lot of embellishing and added in my own storyline of a family in the town of Piazza. It's a twisted Pinocchio story and your character will either be a resident of the town or someone visiting for the festival. This is a big Italian style street festival celebrating children, specifically orphans (there's a big adoption fair, so you might have come to adopt a child!). At some point, and you have freedom to decide where and how, you went off on your own and were ambushed by a living marionette (a Carrionette). It stabbed you in the neck and the next thing you knew, you woke up in a similar state as this post.
Here's the original recruiting post with instructions for drawing up a character. Let me know if this sounds like something you'd be interested in. We've lost our thief, but you could draw up whatever you'd like to play, of course. The next stage of the story involves escaping your imprisonment and finding your body (now possessed by the Carrionette who is wearing your flesh like a meat suit) and stopping this plague on the town.

Hugo Smith |

Well the little I read (puppets PCs woot?) im certainly intrigued. I've been meaning to make a Magus for a game, so that's likely what I would be making. Is recruitment open for the game, or are you extending the offer to us here before doing any broader fishing?

GM bluedove |

See I think most people would say, "So you want me to draw up a character and then immediately take it away from me and shove me in a 1 foot tall doll? Sure, I'll get right on that... NOT!"
I love this mod, and I'm pretty proud of the story we're creating, but most players are not thrilled with the concept.
I'm extending this request to just you guys (and gal!) first. I'll look elsewhere if you pass, but I figured I'd try shopping at the Roleplayers'R'Us store in the MVP section. I enjoy all my PbP games, but y'all are something special. ^_~
We'll do a little backstory by flashback, so you don't totally miss out on all the happy-fun time before the fit hit the shan, but you'll be in the thick of things right off the bat. Good heavens, I'm also the queen of the mixed metaphor... lol! XD
The characters I'm pretty sure are staying are a halfling paladin, dwarf cleric, and half-elf Ranger/Wizard. Anyone who wants in will be travelling companions or otherwise associated, so coordinated backstory would be ideal. I am indeed very serious about NPC's and I will happily set one up to play to whatever end you might like. Whether you want a love interest, nemesis, stalker, long-lost family member, to settle a vendetta or even to come face to face with your diety... I will go there. With bells on. *^_^*
Oh, but I reserve the right to kill them horribly as you watch in terror, of course. This is Ravenloft. *grins*

Tomid |

Wow! Just Wow. Count me in for sure, IF the game is going to be something long running. I really do not want to expend the juice to play for a couple months. You said this is a modified old Ravenloft mod. To me that means something you would plan at a tabletop in a long afternoon. Do you have plans for something to follow.

GM &rew |

I find it kind of spooky that I had just reworked a rogue sniper from a failed Way of the Wicked campaign. Like yesterday...and here you are asking for a rogue. Happenstance? Fate? Oh, and you answered my second call when I sent it out to join this game. And, like you, I'm kicking myself for not joining you in the first place...
Even though I've got characters in 5 games and am GM'ing this one, I know the quality of your game and will step up if you don't get someone else (or maybe if you do!) Since I have the day off today, I'll go in and update Lanarial to meet your character creation specs and you can let me know if he'll fit or not. I'm also not opposed to being dropped in as a total stranger to the group. (As a half-drow he would be a loner and could have been in town on his own...) ANd I would LOVE to be a PC with this group plus whoever stayed from your Ravenloft game!

GM bluedove |

Dude... you cannot dangle a Faerûnian in front of me and then not follow through. That would be cruel and unusual punishment. *pets collection of Forgotten Realms Campaign setting books and novels* The spooky coincidences continue to add up... >.> <.<
But with a Half-Drow, I agree you'd be on your own and you'd likely have arrived through the mists, which means I'll need a hook to pull him through. We started Piazza off in Golarion but it has shifted into the Demiplane of Dread and become a pocket dimension in and of itself.
The hook is usually tied to some kind of personal weakness. Grieving people follow visions of their lost loved ones into the mist, or committing an evil act can draw the mists to you, or maybe you're chasing someone who has committed such an act. Oddly enough, overcoming a great evil can bring the mists as well. Whatever it is, it has to be BIG! You don't get a ticket to Ravenloft for not killing that cut-purse you caught lifting your wallet. Needs to be a pretty epic moment in your characters life.
Those who just happen to be in the town when it shifts will be caught up and carried along with no hook necessary.
Tomid, as long as I have active/interested players, the game will roll on. I may pick up more vintage Ravenloft or craft my own adventure once we've finished this one, but I have expanded on it, I expect we're less than halfway through. It will run sandbox style from here on out with a lot of options on how things will play out depending on where you go.
Thanks so much for the interest! I won't turn any of you away. I'm GMing PFS First Steps at our first annual con in my area this weekend so I'll be looking to start incorporating new characters around Tuesday(the 29th) next week. Hope that's enough time, looking forward to it! ^_^

I would love a Forgotten Realms game at some point. I've had an assassin cleric of Shar statted up from an old RL game that never took off. As much as I love Golarion, their pantheon has nothing on Faerun's

GM &rew |

That seems to be the trend for these PbPs - a big flash at the start, steady progress for a few weeks, and then it slowly dies off because players or the GM lose interest or get too busy. Folks should just admit to it and end the pain!
Ah well...whaddya gonna do?
Hey BlueDove - do we need to roll up toy characters, too? Everyone is a puppet in the game...
Maybe that can be the way we get in...we can be toys in the workshop who rebel against the toy leader and join the remaining original PCs.

GM bluedove |

Actually, I can probably handle that myself. I did it for everyone else and now it's old hat. I'll be away much more than usual this weekend since I'm running my first PFS at my first con. ^_^

Tomid |

Hmm. Seems you have divine covered pretty well Bluedove. And if GM &rew is bringing a rogue I'd say you need either a strait arcane or strait melee person. Are both the halfling and ranger ranged focused?
And are the characters still second level? I have an idea formulating.
If you are a small race, are you an even smaller puppet?

Hugo Smith |

I know what my character build would be, but Im not really having any good background ideas coming to me. Might have to let this one go : /
