Help with samsaran?

Advice

I need to know how they come about, who gives birth to them. I read on some thread here that samsarans give birth to normal humans, so where do they come from? I'm building a synthesist, and I really like the melee part, but I want to be more blasty. I figured I would use samsaron, but I need info on it to let my GM let me use this uncommon race. Also, if you have any advice on what spells to take with the samsaron's ability to become a blaster?

Have you even looked them up on the PFSRD? Reason I ask is that it seems your questions are answered there with their background, or you can do a simple Google search and find out more about them that way (including all the threads on here dealing with them).

Now as far as class goes, you aren't going to be amazing at both magical and melee with a synthesist. They are really great melee and if that is what you want to be good at then go that direction, if you want a "blaster" again there are a lot of threads on here for blasters which are usually wizards, sorcerers, or wiz/sorc multi-classed.

Way to not answer the question.

The SRD suggests they are a parasitic curse upon humanity, where they extinguish the previous host of human bodies and take them over.

Well the d20pfsrd link for Samsarans is word for word from the Pathfinder Advanced Race Guide on page 198. So I don't know what you want. I answered your very vague question with an answer of where to go to find out more information on that race per RAW. Now if you are more specific the your questions here we can help you out quite a bit more.

I believe that Samsarans are based in the older D&D race of Devas.

As for the second part, I answered that as well with my opinion being that you would be better off going synthesist for melee and not for blasting, but if you have your heart set on a blaster I strongly suggest you check out a couple of classes that are great at it being the wizard and/or sorcerer. Reason being that summoners don't get a lot of the spells needed for blasting that the other two get. They can easily be specialized and there are tons of threads on here on how to make really good blasters.

Again, if you want MORE information, you need to provide more information on your part and ask for specifics.

We first introduced the samsarans in "Dragon Empires Gazetter," where they get a page-long entry as well as some other information scattered throughout the book, including details on their nations and their gods.

They are not based on an older D&D race at all. They are, in fact, a brand new race we invented for Tian Xia, drawing upon the myths and legends and beliefs of reincarnation and other mystical elements of the philosophy of life and death and life. I've answered several more questions about them on these boards—a search for "Samsaran" in our search window should reveal a lot of those posts. The name itself comes from the word "Samsara," which if you click brings you to the Wikipedia page to learn more about the whole "life-death-life" cycle the race is based on.

They certainly do have a lot more interesting potential to explore, and some day I'd love to do a longer article about them along the lines of what we do in our revisited books or Adventure Path support articles, but at the moment they, unfortunately, don't have a lot of information about them. Part of the curse of being a newly invented race, I guess! ;-P

Oops, misread the SRD ... thought it said the samsaran sometimes reincarnated into their own human children, but instead those children might reincarnate as samsaran. Ugh, should go to sleep I guess.

I actually might reflavor them in my campaign as a race of parasitic beings that do indeed steal a new body upon death. So essentially, they live their whole lives knowing that when they die, so does someone else, just so they may live again.

It's sort of like how magic works in C.S. Friedmans Magister Trilogy. Casters have their souls linked to a random person in the world who grows sick because of the caster using their life force as a conduit. So the more you cast, the more they die.

I am channeling whole tomes of potential storylines, but they will not make it into the next campaign. A bunch of body jumping immortals? Now that would make a most excellent mythos.

Ok, what gives birth to samsarans? Is there any official paizo text that answers that? My GM will need to integrate my character in somehow. I know a samsaran keeps reincarnating, but what creature, if any, gives birth to said reincarnation?

That sounds more like an Intellect Devourer or some sort of a "super"-Vetala.

So, they're born randomly to other humanoids as they reincarnate? Wierd, but easily workable. One more question: what 5 spells from arcane caster lists would you take for a summoner with the mystic past life ability? I'm going to take lightning bolt, but what else?

Reincarnate.

Ok, that's one spell, I need 3 more. Btw, I'm level 6 so I'm looking for 3rd or under spells unless its REALLY REALLY helpful.
