What is my effective barbarian level with the viking Archetype? I am level 12

Rules Questions

I am trying to take rage powers in place of bonus feats but hero lab is not letting me. I think it is calculating my effective barbarian level incorrectly.

i am a level 12 fighter that means I am a level 9 barbarian correct for rage powers and such?

bump

Berserker (Ex): "At 4th level, a viking gains the rage ability as the barbarian class feature, but her barbarian level is considered to be her fighter level –3."

A level 12 Viking should have an effective barbarian level of 9 for the purposes of Rage.

Correct. Note that you dont get rage powers until level 6 but you could get a 4+ only power at level 6.
I dont know about hero lab, I never use it but since this is such a odd case of cross classing (ALL of barbarian powers available to a fighter?) I am not surprised it isnt working that well...

Rage Powers (Ex): "Starting at 6th level, whenever a viking gains a fighter bonus feat, she can instead choose to gain a single rage power, as the barbarian class feature, in place of the bonus feat. Once selected, these rage powers cannot be changed."

You gain it as the barbarian class feature. The barbarian Rage Powers (Ex) class feature still uses prerequisites.

I don't see why a viking would not have to have an effective barbarian level of 8 in order to select Clear Mind (Ex), for example.

Sorry I might not have been that clear. and looking above, worse, I was wrong

I ment that a viking that was level 6 could get a rage power that had the prerequisite of "Barbarian lvl 3" despite only getting access to rage powers at level 6.
I guess it is kind of a moot point considering that there is no rage power with prerequisites that low, but there are some at level 4.
So a level 7 viking could get level 4 powers!

Silver Crusade

Note that for Hero Labs to activate a rule, you have to have purchased the package including that particular book for Hero Labs, -and- activate that book for that particular character. This has bitten me more than once.

i have all the attachments is it treating my barbarian level has starting at level 6 for rage powers?>

I am revisiting this build trying to take spell sunder the only thing I can think of is it says " a single rage power" would that imply a rage power with out a prerequisite? I can take lesser beast totem but not beast totem? i have tried adding extra levels of fighter and barbarian to see if there was a threshhold and so far no luck.

Have you tried the Hero Lab forums?

Likely answer, knowing Hero Lab's idiosyncracies: Rage Powers are most likely set up to check for straight up Barbarian levels for prerequisites. Hero Lab tends to have trouble with "Counts as" methods of meeting prereqs, usually requiring it to be specially coded into the individual feats/powers.
