Armored Kilt

Rules Questions

Silver Crusade

I have a question on the Armored kilt. I am wondering is it possible to combine an armored kilt with a half plate armor and still get the +1AC bonus from it. It seemed to me that this should be possible since the half plate doesn't have a lower section, only torso, gauntlets and shoulder pads, but I wanted to check with you.

Secondly, I was hoping to get an official ruling from you on weather or not the armored kilt can be separately enchanted if added to a suit of armor.

What do you think? What do the Devs think?

You cannot combine an Armored Kilt with Heavy Armor, and gain additional AC.

They're both armor bonuses so under the rules they don't stack. An armor represents a complete suit - if there was a 'half-plate with armored kilt' that would be a new type of heavy armor with its own ACP etc.

Actually the point of the armored kilt is to add it to an existing armor, adding +1 AC to the armor.

However it can only be added to light or medium armors.

From the description of Armored Kilt (bolding by me):

When you add an armored kilt to a suit of light armor, the set counts as medium armor. Likewise, a kilt and medium armor counts as heavy armor. Adding an armored kilt to heavy armor has no effect.

Yes, the armored kilt can be enchanted separately.

However, since both enchantments grant an enhancement bonus and enhancement bonuses don't stack, only the highest one counts.

How about Mithral Full Plate + Armored Kilt?

Mirthal Full Plate is stil considered heavy armor with regards to proficiency to use, if I remember correctly, so it wouldn't be possible.

could you enchant the armored kilt with say brawling and the breast plate with shadow? would those stack?

Mitheral Full Plate is treated as medium armor but that doesn't apply for proficiency. So I'd say adding armor kilt would just make Mitheral Full Plate treated as heavy armor.

At the same time Mitheral Full plate is treated a medium armor for the purposes or movement and other limitations so you could read that as it's still heavy armor when it comes to adding an armored kilt.

I'd say this is a GM call, ask the GM. For PFS game this is question the devs would have to answer.

Their answer was to ban the kilt from PFS play (see "Additional Resources").
