River into Darkness needs a new player or two

Recruitment

Hi my River into Darkness game has had a player leave and I think I might want to bring the player count back up to five.

Currently, the group consists of a Ranger and a Oracle/Rogue with a fighter character joining because her Paladin was eaten by gargoyles or drown.... Anyway, pretty much any class can be used.

Level is 4. I will have you be boat wrecked so most of your gear is lost. But you can still have some nice things left over.

20 point buy. All paizo... I think that is about it.

Can you link to the game and/or original recruiting thread?

Liberty's Edge

I'll throw my hat in the ring. Depending what you get for submissions, Ill work on either a Human Sorcerer or a Human Bard.

Ill work on the character when I get home from work tonight.

Whats the cap on gear? and constraints? maybe items that can be worn and carried easily?

or items that would keep encumbrance to light?

I would say pretty much only things that could be carried easily.

sorry about the link... riverqueen

I'd be interested. I just worked out a fourth level hexcrafter magus I'd be really keen to play, I'll see how to best reflavour his background.

hey I remember that game, I applied back for inital recuitment didn't make the cut then, shame that character is involved in another game now.

I'll see what I come up with have some unused characters sitting in my account not sure what to pick.

Ok, interested... I've been itching to play another arcane type. Looks like I'm not alone in that, but hey.

GMEDWIN, what are your thoughts on 3PP?

Ah it seems you currently lack arcane help, which is one of my specialties. Let me draw up a character, back in a bit

As long as the Sylph race is ok (6RP) i'd like to make a Sylph Wizard. Here's just the rough sketch

I have access to all of Paizo stuff and not to 3pp, so I don't think 3PP is suitable.

Ridge here. I've altered (reset really) an existing alias, and present to you a witch, Krokod. Click the alias for the mechanics part, but here's the backstory

Backstory:
I am Krokod, of the Ijo. And I murdered two fathers...
one of them was my own.

But I get ahead of myself. I was born in Sargava. As a native Mwangi under the rule of those of Cheliaxian descent, I lived a simple life. I was a potter, and a fisherman. My father hated the "newcomers", but somehow I never fully swallowed his hate and made it my own. I simply did trade with them, and tried to enjoy life.

Then I met Nadrina. Her laugh was warm and wonderful, her eyes kind. Though she was born of Cheliaxian blood, she loved the land and waters as much as I. It was hard not to love her though I tried to hide it. To my surprise, she not only knew of my affections, she returned them.

We began plans to wed, though it would mean moving away from the comforts of a city. Our fathers, both of them, each objected. Each saw their offspring as a traitor to our respective peoples. We were saddened that they couldn't see past their hate, but we never realized their hate would unite them.

They pooled their resources, hired thugs to kill me, and scare her back to her father. Unfortunately, it did not work as well as they thought. The thugs grew over zealous, and my wife to be died from her wounds, while I, who was meant to die, escaped.

I was not as ignorant of my heritage as my father thought. I staggered into the jungle, ready to finally die myself, but then the other came to me, speaking through a fire snake. A bargain was struck, for I would need power to avenge my lost love.

My wounds healed, knowledge both dark and light was learned, and I returned to each man who had had a hand in Nadrina's death... and I killed them, some in horrific ways. The last two to die were my father and hers.

I made their souls scream, and will say no more of that.

Now, vengeance sated, but true love lost... I no longer love the world, I simply exist in it, but to exist, a man must earn his way. Despite the fear some have of witches, there always seem to be people ready to hire the powerful.

Liberty's Edge

Ok after much deliberating about whether to create something fun for role playing or something potent for gaming...

Im opting for fun for role playing.

Option A) (if the need is Arcane)
Aranus Chekpar (Azlanti Male)
CG Human Sorcerer Serpentine Bloodline.

partial backstory- more to come later: Growing up in The Shackles as the child of a fisherman, Aranus, Aran to friends, began to exhibit talents that set him apart from others...and his eyes yellowed. His speach became sibilant. He was shunned by others in the village and he fled, gradually making his way to the city of Bloodcove, in the hopes he could find someone that could explain what was happening to him. Why when he got excited he sprouted fangs....why he had a knack with magic. He was told by a sage in Bloodcove that the answers he sought were to be found in the jungles of Mwangi, in the city of Saventh Yi. So inland searching for a lost city has Aranus come. Unfortunately, the boat he was travelling on has been sunk in the dangerous river Vanji. What will happen to our stranded young man....only time will tell.

Option B) (if the need is Divine)
Dagren Follows The Bats (Shoanti Male of The Lyrune Quah)
CN Human Druid with Animal Companion- Wolf

partial backstory- Dagren was not as hardy as some of his fellow tribesmen, but he took to the teachings of the shaman like a natural. Many in the Quah said he was destined to join the shaman...except he kept wandering off..exploring...wanderlust. Others in the tribe kidded him and began to call him by the tribes new name for him...follows the bats. Because they said instead of doing what he was supposed to, the bats would call and he would follow. Well They certainly have called..and he certainly has followed, all the way down to the Mwangi Expanse, where he has gone upriver to see 'A Jungle' that was described to him by an adventurer he had run into in The Storval Plains. Of course the more sane partner 'Chases Rats', his wolf is quick to cajole his himan partner for leaving what they knew to come to where they dont.

Dagren was fortunate to bring Chases Rats though, because otherwise he would have certainly drowned when their riverboat went under...But the Wolf managed to drag his sputtering partner to shore, a fact he hasnt let him forget as they hope for pick up...

I can create either or both tomorrow when im off work. What do you think GM?

hey GWEDWIN, is the Sylph race ok? its a 6RP race and the only thing really out of the ordinary is electricity resistance

Edyan, its in the ARG so why not?

Ahh sorry, I just like to make sure anything out of the ordinary is cleared

When will the selection be made, do we have a set time?

I dont know, I would like to do Tuesday.

Here is a preliminary version of a wizard specializing in alteration magic. I will increase him to 4th level tomorrow. How do you feel about the bloatmage/bloodmage prestige class?

fine by me

argleblargle... serves me right for staying on focus, i guess...

?

Anyway, I am going to close it tomorrow morning and have my decision made by 12 noon CEST. Please feel free to submit any chars you think may work.

It currently has a fighter, range(d)r, and a Oracle/Rogue.

Some skills in swimming may help...

Good Luck!!!

Ok Krokod Firetongue I think you would be an interesting fit to the game.

Thanks everyone for trying... I don't really see that the group needs two Arcane casters and a second divine is a smidge overkill.

@Krokod you can probably jump right in...

Liberty's Edge

no worries hope everyone enjoys the game...

(you do know Kroked is a Witch right? ie Arcane caster? lol )

Yeah I know, i meant to pick two arcanes would be a bit much, which is exactly what I wrote... My experience is a second melee character works but too many spellcasters ruins the broth... ;)

Liberty's Edge

agreed. Enjoy the game.

Thank you! I'm running a bit late this morning, but will get right to it.
