25 point buy stat allocation [Barbarian (Invuln Rager)]

Advice

Making a Invuln. Rager, plan on using the crap out of Come And Get Me, so I need a pretty high dex for more AoOs.

Stats at level 1:

STR 18
DEX 15
CON 15 (For Raging Vitality)
INT 7
WIS 12
CHA 7

My question is should I use my stat point at level 4 to boost dex to a 16? Low magic campaign so I can't count on having a stat boosting item. The only way to afford a 16 dex at the start would be to tank my wisdom as well, which I don't really want to do.

Asmodeus wouldn't spare a mortal soul. Imposter.

ON TOPIC: HALP

Yeah, that looks like a good stat layout. I know it's practically heresy, but I MIGHT drop down the strength a point to help you have better Dex. Come and Get Me is powerful as it is dangerous. Haha. Good luck on the build! I'll be watching, as I'm interested in the outcome.

What race are you thinking of using? If human I would suggest decreasing str to 16 and then adding the racial +2 back to str so it starts at 18, now you have enough points to increase con and dex 16 each adn wis to 13. If you don't care about the feat and skillpoints take that dual talent racial trait and start with 18 dex too.

I am going Human, but I'm giving up skilled for Heart of the Fields (negate fatigue/exhaustion 1/day) otherwise I would consider taking dual talented!

What you (and DoctorYesNinja) pointed out makes a lot of sense. Instead of trading 1 point of strength for 1 point of dexterity at level 4, I could trade 2 points of strength for 2 points of dex, 2 points of con, and a point of wis.

It's basically come down to whether I want a 20 strength for stronger attacks, or a 16 dex for 3 AoOs from Come and Get Me.

The difference between 18 and 20 strength is +1atk/dmg per swing.
The difference between 15 and 16 dexterity is a full extra swing, assuming I get to use all three, once I can take CaGM. PLUS 1 AC, and an extra +2 con.

Conclusion: dropping strength to 16 is best. Thank you both for the help!

Love the Invulnerable Rager. That DR will save you hundreds of HP by the time you get to Level 6.

Enjoy.

Urban invulnerable barbarian is a powerful combo, since you can rage dex to better fuel come and get me.

Hmmm. Give up fast movement, but gain 10 ft for wearing light armor. Give up 1 ac (difference between chain shirt and breastplate) but gain 1 ac when 2 enemies are adjacent, and don't lose ac from raging.

And get a rage that wont kill me, plus lets me boost dex? Sounds good to me!

a +2 furious/courageous weapon could really help you later on with your stats too, since it increases all morale bonuses by half its enhancements value (which is +4 while raging). At that point, you should spread your stats out a bit when you rage so you're giving some to dex and str, unless you're not planning on needing the dex at all.

Would be nice, but I'm playing a low magic campaign. I'll be lucky to get -any- magic item; I definitely wont be able to craft one/have an NPC craft me one.

Good idea for a normal campaign though!
