Slow SLOWER SLOWEST!

i really never ever found a Forum so slow! this is just terrible you actually have to WAIT when you click on something its absurd.
i wish i never joined these boards now that i got into a PBF and like posting i get agrivated by the slowness of the board I'm actually opening 5-6 windows so i don't have to wait and still ill have to wait when I am done reading all 6 windows I still have to wait to let it load in.

i actually re installed windows to make sure it is not my computer but this is just absurd my P150 was faster than this running win 98SE

BLEH!

i really had to get that out of my system!

Scarab Sages

I heard you get bonus points if the boards crash after you spend 45 minutes typing in a character profile.

Liberty's Edge

The forums are REALLY SLOW again today. As in painfully slow ...

It seems like it happens in the afternoon, after everyone on the West Coast wakes up and logs on (I'm on the East Coast). Typically, the mornings until around 11:00 or 12:00 are fine and then the the forums just grind to a halt.

I've timed between 6 and 10 seconds of waiting every time I click on a link.

Is it possible the server just can't handle to additional bandwidth once the West Coast folks come online?

How funny, I find it is an all day thing. Today I clicked to open a thread then took a conference call. We finished the call before the thread opened.

While some days are better than others, today has been real bad.

I hate to say it, but of all the sites that I frequently visit, paizo.com is consistently the slowest.

The forums here are pretty slow, only just faster than the forum at my university.

We have a lousy ISP. That's changing very soon.

That will be a great day. I look forward to it.

It can't happen soon enough for me. At least there is hope.

You all of course know Vic feeds off the shattered hopes and dreams of the userbase right? :P

(looking forward to the change)

Isn't it because it also doubles as a sales site like Amazon or such, storing both personal/confidential information which is encrypted, such as our credit cards AND the whole forums with multiple aliases and what not?

Just curious, do we have a target date? I would love to see the speed improve.

Any update on how the move to a new ISP is going?

Monday's always seem to be the worst. Loading times are about half a minute on average for me on Mondays. Such as right now. Ugh.

Vic, have you guys considered virtualizing and offloading your compute to an actual data center (rather than running things in-house)?

so it's not the code? its the ISP? that's much easier to fix.

We've already transitioned our corporate traffic to the new ISP, and that's gone swimmingly. We'll be transitioning paizo.com soon, but we haven't set a date yet. (There will be downtime, so we need to make sure it's not happening during a major PDF release, or an RPG Superstar event, or the like.)

This is wonderful news. I will send the best vibs for your team as I know these kinds of transitions can be a challenge.

Thanks for the update. :)

Over the past few days, I've noticed that the website times out in Firefox, though it works (slowly) on Safari.
