I know it's early, but please tell me the reprint of the white box is going to be available here!

So, what's the eight LBB they show in the picture? All you can see is another under one of the listed booklets...

Hmm, I suspect it's just a glitch from putting the graphic together. At best it might be a listing of products/modules, perhaps?
Weren't there some loose charts? What would really be nice would be a copy of the miniature rules Swords and Spells to round it out. You're probably right though.
brock, no the other one...

I believe that Hasbro has signed an exclusive distribution contract with OneBookShelf (operator of RPG Now, DriveThru RPG, and DND Classics) for their classic D&D products on PDF.
In other words, I don't think these products will be available through Paizo.
This is an actual meat-space boxed product though.

Indeed. Paizo has all D&D premium reprints available so far. This one should not be different.

Ah. The downside of following links on a smartphone. Didn't see the whole page, and thought it was a PDF.

This is like saying OBOY! A porsche 944 for sale! I think I'll buy it! (which i have almost done on numerous occasions)
Only to come to the realization that a VW golf for a 1/4 of the price has much better performance all around, it just doesnt look as cool, but whips the pants off the 944 AND seats 4 adults.

swords and wizardry is my game of choice at the moment (although I don't use PDFs, so it's not quite free).
I don't buy different RPGs because I need lots of different games, but I do find it refreshing from time to time to read a new take on the genre (even if the rules are very similar). I'm curious to see how it is laid out, the purported inconsistencies, the things that werent explicitly codified, etcetera - I played OD&D a couple of times but never owned the rules myself.

How does this compare to Swords & Wizardry? Seems to me like if you are interested in retro gaming that would be the way to go. At $35 for the rulebook + PDF, it's a great deal.

Having picked up the Gygax donation set of 3 AD&D books, I'm really excited about this one.
Frankly I don't care if I never play it again. It's owning a really nice version of a piece of history, at a fraction of the price for the originals.
While it is pricy, I think a lot of people will underestimate the price of nostalgia. The vintage Milenium Falcon released recently at Toys R Us is $250 retail...

That looks to be the reference sheets - a 16-page set of tables (spells, monsters, random monster tables & treasure types).
It's a nice-looking box, but at $150 I'll probably give it a miss (even though $150 in 2013 is pretty close to the $35 I paid in 1974-'76, inflation-adjusted). But then, I've already got them. I've also got the "Swords and Spells" set of miniatures rules, which also has a 4-page reference sheet.

I've pretty much come to the same conclusion. I have all my originals. What I look forward to is the, eventual, release of PDFs so I can get my nostalgia fix without damaging my old booklets.
*edit* I have Swords and Spells too, but I don't recall a 4 page reference set of tables... a bit late to take it back though :)

I could be wrong as to which of the books it came with, but it doesn't seem to be part of the original 16-page ones; while those aren't bound together, there's no way to fit the extra folded sheet into the others without messing up the flow of the tables across pages.

Either way, it's kind of cool to see the old stuff being reprinted. Now, all I have to do is convince the administration that a class on the history of D&D is a good idea. With demonstrations of course :D
