What is the most expensive item your character owns?

What is the most unusual "flavor" item you own?

What is most interesting thing you've seen another PC own?

Shadow Lodge 4/5

My L11 Mystery of Life Oracle owns the Banner of Ancient Kings, which set him back 18,000 gp. Worth every penny.

My Tetori monk owns a gaudy dashiki, matching kufi and ugly clunky necklace he bought at the Korvosa Green Market--purchased so he could be "undercover" as a shopper while waiting for thugs.

A cleric I played with apparently has the remains of creepy possessed doll he once encountered.

What is the most expensive item your character(s) owns?

Paladin (L13): His falcata was upgraded to a +2 after Eyes of the Ten, now becoming a +2 mercyful vicious falcata. He also upgraded his belt (STR & CON) to a +4 and that was quite a penny.

What is the most unusual "flavor" item you own?

Bloatmage (L8): I blew the cash for a wand of create food and water. So I can create food straight into my mouth! OM NOM NOM. Also a jar of fortifying leeches from the Shattered Star AP.

What is most interesting thing you've seen another PC own?

Hmm harder than the previous. I guess I would have to go with someone just happening to have a merchant's scale, and actually using it to solve a puzzle in a certain scenario!

This. Is. Awesome.

Grand Lodge 5/5 ****

A staff of fire as the bonded item.

Cost some 1600 gp extra because of the latter - but has been in good use ever since.

+5 Heavy Mithral Shield, only fitting for a Knight of the Shield.

Helm of Telepathy, because the local Chelaxian would scold me on announcing my presence all the time. Now I can challenge with the world being none the wiser!

In a game I was actually playing? Wand of Fireballs. The local Summoner gave up on trying to melee (wasn't built for it) and just blew all his gold on a menagerie of useful but expensive wands. His Freedom of Movement wand is a notable mention.

Overall? I was GMing the second table of our two-table gamestore group, but a barbarian bought a +1 Impervious Greatsword. "When will that extra hardness EVER come up? All he's doing is limiting himself with his Fame cap..." It did come up.

Staff of fire that I can't recharge myself.

Grand Lodge 1/5

Level 8 half-elf wizard (conjuration)
1. A +1 Distance Longbow as an arcane bond.

2. A +1 morningstar that he bought, even though he's not proficient with it, but because he found it in one of the scenarios he decided to "keep" it.

3. I know a fire sorcerer that will only carry alchemist's fires that he uses to bath himself every morning.

In one scenario, rather than give an exhaustive list of everything lootable in a "warehouse" situation, the scenario said something like "pick any one mundane item in the CRB equipment chapter".

So my cleric of Iomedae got himself a boat!

He couldn't keep it afterwards. :( But he had it!

My other PFS character also got to commandeer a pirate ship in a different scenario that same weekend, so "a boat" is my answer for both characters.

1/5

My pirate, Xan Stormblade, has a pirate ship -- the ship vanity from the PFSFG, which seems to be, while not common, something that I know at least a few other PFS PCs have "purchased".

In retrospect, that's a 5,450 gp ship...since she'd spent a bunch of Prestige on the ship, she didn't have enough Prestige to be able to get herself raised from the dead during Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment at GenCon last summer, so her party had to sell a bunch of her gear to get her back.

(And, probably best to not talk about the figurehead on Mike Bramnik's pirate's ship... ;-) )

My private investigator tends to wear a jeweled pendant at all times; it was given to him by one of his former clients, and he believes it to be lucky. It also serves as a reminder of some dark mystery from his past.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

1. My druid has a +6 headband of wisdom... costly but also bland... My dragon disciple has a suit of +1 mithral chain shirt of determination which costs less, but is far cooler.

2. My dwarf bard is the middle child from a family of renown dwarven pathfinders. Each son in the linage carries with him a weapon from their father, who was a master delver and explorer. Each weapon is named, for example, his brother's hammer is Matilda.

So my bard carries a heavy repeating crossbow named Madeline.

OOC: another person in my play group and I have dwarven characters that we decided should be brothers, so whenever we play together we get to enjoy that RP too. "Well met brother! Still packing on the ale-weight I see!"

3. A witch I've played with before -- who is built in the style of a voodoo doctor from the Mwangi Expanse -- carries with him a collection of shrunken heads. Each is taken from a creature or enemy he's encounter in previous games. He'd make a knowledge check to identify a monster and pull out a shrunken head -- "Ya mon, it be lookin' like 'dis a wee bit."

What is the most expensive item your character owns?- +1 Shocking Furious Greatsword

What is the most unusual "flavor" item you own?- An empty beer bottle (as a masterwork tool of Intimidate, cause he will put you in the bottle if you dont cooperate)

What is most interesting thing you've seen another PC own?- a poison sand tube, but the character has no sand and no poison.

Also, Sammy, I seriously <3 the thread title. I love that story!

5/5 5/55/55/5

Most expensive item: The amulet of mighty fists on the Velociraptor.

Most unusual flavor item: Calden Caileans lost loincloth.

What is the most expensive item your character owns? - Probably my M16

What is the most unusual "flavor" item you own? - I keep two tin salt and pepper shakers in my field stripping gear.

What is most interesting thing you've seen another PC own? - New Jersey Steve had a necklace that wasn't so fun to look at. Funny thing, the MPs felt the same way. I don't know where he is now but it sure ain't the jungle. Lucky SOB.

5/5

My Tengu Samuri is currently walking around in +1 Obsidian Stone Plate.

Liberty's Edge

Most interesting:

My friend Mat's guy Haladar has a +1 Longsword.

Once, whilst fighting yetis, the weakest one almost killed him. He ended up OK, castrated the yeti, and attached the resulting unmentionables from the end of his sword, proclaiming it "the ball sword". This led to his battle cry "Hey, ever been teabagged by a sword?"

Another guy's Dwarf Barbarian has a +1 Adamantine Earthbreaker. He's been saving since level 1.

Silver Crusade 4/5

Most expensive? My level 13 barbarian has a +2 keen nodachi. I don't remember if he ever got the +6 strength belt, but I also don't think I ever spent the loot I got from the last part of Eyes of the Ten.

Most unusual flavor? Same barbarian has kept and stuffed the heads of every dragon he's killed, and has them mounted on the walls at home. There are 4 of them.

Most interesting thing on other characters? Tough call, but everything that comes to mind immediately has been stuff for my friend's witch. She stole some fancy Tien dresses from the Blackros Museum when we were there on a mission once. And her familiar is... creative. She took Improved Familiar to get a void worm, which goes around using it's illusion power to impersonate the fox it replaced... and ate. Yes, the player summoned his improved familiar and it immediately ate his old familiar that it was replacing. He did this as a ritual he performed in character at the start of a session, before the actual adventure.

Details on that:
The doll is from the Frostfur Captives. The one in the Baba Yaga hut. It dominated (charmed?) him, and he retained a special attachment to it after we killed it. He keeps it tied to his belt.

What is the most expensive item your character owns?
My Archaeologist just bought a set of Celestial Armor. With the money she got from her last scenario prior to retiring. So I expect it will get a lot of use.

If my Barbarian lives through her next couple scenarios, she'll be upgrading her sword to a Large +1 Furious Impact Adamantine Bastard Sword.

What is the most unusual "flavor" item you own?
It's not unusual in and of itself, but my Sage Sorcerer carries around a spell component pouch because he likes to pretend he's a Wizard. He mostly just throws various material components in the face of his allies while casting.

What is most interesting thing you've seen another PC own?
I had the pleasure of riding on Xan's ship in one scenario. Also played with a Bard who had an Apple of Eternal Sleep. He'd use Beguiling Gift to induce enemies to take a bite.

The Exchange 5/5

"My Character"??? heck, I've got 10 active - which do I choise?!!

Most Expensive? most likely +6 stat boosters. (Several characters, Int, Ws, Dx, Cha)

The most unusual "flavor" item? Silk skirt and cloak, with Continual Flame cast on the lining.... or maybe Fur lined Masterwork Manicles ("fuzzy love cuffs"), ... or maybe the Masterwork tool for Profession: Courtesan (surprisingly no judge has asked what it is...)

What is most interesting thing you've seen another PC own? Mithral Chain shirt barding ... for a raven familiar. Or wait, maybe the Mithral Breastplate armor with the expansion pannels for advanced pregnancy (the cleric is 6 months pregnant and growing!).

Sczarni 2/5 RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

Kotyk the Kraken (Tengu Rogue/Urban Barb) just upgraded his +1 Furious ECB with Courageous. If his friends give him a GMW, things get all crazy mathematical! (This just beat out the Banner of Ancient Kings on my Cleric of Nobility.)

Most Interesting: Kotyk also carries around the Miser's Mask and can smell your shinies. I mean, his shinies. (Because he stole them.) Which also comes up when wizards decided to be invisible while holding onto diamond dust or gold or other valuables. No one escapes!

On a more flavorful note, I try to keep track of some of the random set items pulled from various scenarios. In one scenario, there's a skeleton with a crown. Kotyk took the crown and told everyone he assassinated a king once. He also has this large, bronze magic mirror that came off the walls of a particular S3 scenario. Whenever they "wake him up in the middle of the night" for a mission, they always find him hiding in the roost above the Grand Lodge staring into his secret mirror, dreaming of other worlds...

Sovereign Court 3/5

Lady Gabrielle has been realizing a lot of benefit from her karyukai tea set. Party members who spend an hour a day drinking tea, gossiping, and pondering a haiku with her are often quite happy with the results.

Kotyk's shiny-seeking mask is great flavor, too, from what she has seen from others.

5/5

Most expensive: +3 Delving Full Plate of Determination

Most interesting: either Field Scrivener's Desk or canary in a diminutive cage

I don't even know, as my highest character is a level 8 cleric (which doesn't get played much) it's probably a +4 WIS headband.

Sammy T wrote:

My druid has a pet cat... that drinks whisky. (Cheers to you Auntie Baltwin!)

Sammy T wrote:

I've seen two or three PC's with courier's outfits (I don't recall the scenario, but they're all Chelaxian... something about playing dress-up for the Paracountess...)

How did you get the staff.

Best I got is 'Ol Painless' my gunslingers musket +1, soon to be a distance weapon.

The Exchange 5/5

Grayson proudly wields Mortuos, his +2 Ghost Touch, Heartseeking, adamantine lance, from the back of his faithful warpig, Ozzy. He also has a +2 Animated heavy steel shield and +5 Full Plate.

Estragon wields Frostfang, his +1 Furious Frost dwarven waraxe, and wears a +5 mithril breastplate.

Shadow Lodge 2/5

My archer has a fairly expensive bow and a flying broom which also deviates from the cheap end of things. My fighter has most of the really fun gear, though- he endeavors to be prepared for every situation, and for that task I've spent a great deal of time poring through Ultimate Equipment. He's got everything from the folding ladder to the portable ram to the portable bridge (a personal favorite).

Dark Archive 5/5 5/55/5

I was taken aback at the large amount of gold I'd accumulated in the bottom of my Haversack recently, and decided to spend all of it on a Ring of Freedom of Movement on my way into Galt. I certainly hope it proves useful...

3/5 RPG Superstar 2013 Top 16

My monk spent the Prestige Points to get a porter, who is actually his monastic trainee. He just carries around a 300 pound log wherever we go, as part of his training.
