Monk weapon question

Rules Questions

Are monks proficent with all weapons that say monk in special properties?
Are they proficent with the exotic weapon knuckle axe?

No. Monks are only proficient in the weapons listed in their description.

Which is quite silly.

Other that the weapons listed in the monk class text, some weapons will indicate that monks are proficient in their individual descriptions.

Otherwise youmay want to dip into unarmed fighter who are apparently proficient in all monk weapons.

It is silly with the addition of new weapons to the game you would think they would add to the classes

As others have said the answer is no, monks aren't proficient with all monk weapon, monks are proficient with the weapons listed in the monk class and any weapon that says so in it's description.
Unarmed fighters on the other hand are proficient with all monk weapons.

The "monk" quality means that the weapon can be used for a monk's flurry of blows class feature. It doesn't give monks proficiency with the weapon.

There's a Lantern Lodge trait that lets you take proficiency in a single weapon with the "monk" quality (Weapon Style).

There are a lot of exotic weapons with "monk", so I think it is fair. A lot of those weapons are just bamf.

Just to add to what everyone else is saying, I'd recommend asking your GM to just let you (or the monk in question) get proficiency for free. Not like it's going to make them overpowered.
