RotRL Interactive Maps - Separate Purchase?

Other APs have the Interactive Maps available for separate purchase. The most recently complete AP Skull and Shackles has maps available for $14. Shattered Star's Maps aren't out yet, but that AP isn't finished yet (or just wrapped up).

But what about Rise of the Runelords? The Anniversary edition has been out for over six months, longer than Skull and Shackles.
Is there plans for this? Was this just forgotten or overlooked? Is there another reason?

I'm slowly building to running Rise of the Runelords when my current campaign ends in 4-8 months. And I'd love to get the interactive maps and go the extra step of sending them off to a printer and having some of them printed as posters.
I have the big fancy super extra special edition of the book but didn't get the PDF because I had to cancel my AP subscription a couple months prior due to a bad case of life and a series of expenses. And paying $40 for the PDF now seems a bit much... especially when I just want the maps. $15 or $20 just for the Interactive Maps seems much more reasonable.

Scarab Sages

I'm also interested in the interactive maps as a separate purchase . That being said, if I buy the ROTRL anniversary PDF , does that currently include the interactive maps? I know I can pull them out, but the ability to easily remove the grid lines is my must have feature for http purposes.

Liberty's Edge

The AP PDF includes interactive maps (as well as a player handouts file).

The OP specified that they didn't want to drop another $40 on the PDF on top of his purchase of the hard copy, especially when other interactive Maps sell for around $15. A sentiment that I agree with.

The second poster was asking about buying the complete pdf version and I think that is what HangarFlying was talking about

You are probably correct, my apologies to HangarFlying.

Liberty's Edge

It's all good, I could have clarified my response a bit better.

Liberty's Edge

The size is likely a bit bigger. All the maps in Skull and Shackles end up being twenty or so pages and I hear this one has thirty pages.
But not much work is required. It's already been done. Not like they need to do it from scratch, $20 seems reasonable.

Liberty's Edge

Is there some other way I could ask about this?

Is this the sort of thing I could send an e-mail about? And if so to whom?

It really seems like an oversight.

It is indeed not so nice when buying such an expensive HC book and miss out on the interactive maps. I really like the physical books but now it seems like they dont want to sell physical books.
I really would like to have the interactive maps, but like the OP I dont want to toss in another 40-ish dollars for a product that i have allready paid a good amount of money for.

I would love an official reply regarding this.

Regards

I would personally love to get ahold of some interactive maps to be able to not have to have those damned GM reference numbers on them. Just ruins alot of the entire point of having them printed in the first place.

Liberty's Edge

This isn't just an issue for us buyers who were not subscribed and missed the free PDF.
The anniversary HC (and special delux version) are still for sale and being sold. The book is still #3 in the Top 10 chart of the AP section. Everyone who buys a copy now misses out on the accessories of the PDF and lack an affordable "buy both" option. And anyone who buys a copy from their FLGS also cannot get the fancy and very handy maps.

I am in the same boat. I have a hardback edition and want the maps but I cannot afford to drop another $40 for the pdf version just to get what I want.

Silver Crusade

I bought the Deluxe Collector's Edition ($199) and the regular Anniversary hardcover version (before I knew about the Deluxe ever being made).

So that's around $260 and I have to pay $40 for the interactive PDF on top of this?.. that's just not right.

I get it, that if you were a AP subscriber, you would get that PDF but I shelled alot for the RotRL (including the minis, face cards, etc). I would pay $20 but no way $40.

Please Paizo, offer it at a discount for like a limited time but there are a lot of us that are going to run RotRl and would love this AP interactive map at a decent price.

I second that. I'd like to add that not everyone who has the new book bought it from here.

Bam! Seven people in this thread alone. If they charged $20 that'd be an easy $140 right there.
For a product that doesn't even have to be made or formatted, jus seperated and put on sale that, that should be a tidy profit. Even if it takes an hour of the web team's day, I doubt they're pulling $100/ hour so there should be some nice profit.

And my players get treated to a cooler play experience.

+1, if I ever manage to pull a group together with enough resilience for a full AP. I'd buy some minis or pawns to go with it, too.

Grand Lodge

I second this, A PDF handout for 15/20$ would be awesome (since I bought the hardcover version here in Italy).

Liberty's Edge

Well, it's been a couple months and no Shattered Star maps, so they might just be phasing out that product.

I would love an interactive maps pdf for around $15. I have big plans involving the use of a projector and area-number-free maps. I haven't bought the skull and shackles maps, yet, but I will when I get to a point where I will run that AP.

I take it there has been no movement on this front? I would really like these files for my ownself.

If you own the books, you can likely scan in the maps for personal use. Then use photo-manipulation software to hide such things as secret doors and the like. If players complain about the blurriness of elements, say it was a scanning artifact. ;) And be sure to have fake scanning artifacts as a result.

To be honest, I've not found the interactive maps to be that useful. They tend to slow down Adobe significantly and outside of printing a couple of them (for use in building a 3-D map, which I photographed earlier), I've not seen a use for them.

I've tried to do this.

The big coloured blocks that denote rooms now are handy to reference but very hard to photoshop out. This makes the maps much less usable. And the level of zoom necessary to blow up the pictures (400-800x) blurs the pictures quite a bit.

I'd so much rather just copy a blank high rez image.

You might not be scanning at a high enough resolution. You could try increasing the DPI of the scanner. But if you want to blow things up to put models on it? That probably won't work well. Not even with an interactive map.

Apparently there are Shattered Star Interactive Maps, so hopefully we will get RotR Interactive maps soon.

It is poor service for all that bought the anniversary edition hardcover that they cannot obtain the RotRL interactive maps. Way to go Paizo ....

So, no news about this so far?

Anyone email Paizo about this? They may just not check this subforum regularly.

BUMP!

Come on Paizo any reaction from you?

Liberty's Edge

You're probably better served by posting this question in the products or possibly in the feedback forum.

And it is out!

A little late for my game as I already spent an age scanning and photoshopping but still nice. But I said I would buy and I will.
I might get an extra map or two printed just cause.
