I am a huge Ravenloft fanatic and initially came to these boards looking for a Ravenloft or Carrion Crown game. I have DM'd in Ravenloft extensively and can really bring colorful characters to the table if chosen.
I would really prefer a Pathfinder game but could go back to older rules if I had to. The original Ravenloft was AD&D (2nd edition) and the ruleset had gotten pretty complex by the time the module came out. It ws never 1st edition (boxed set) DnD. Ravenloft has editions for AD&D, 3.0 and 3.5 and the kargatane may have upgraded it to Pathfinder, I haven't checked. Either way, a 3.5 to 3.75 jump is pretty easy to make.
Either way though, it's all the same to me. I just want to play Ravenloft. Here is a character I made for a recently defunct Ravenloft and I would either make a similar wizard or a warrior type cleric when you open your recruiting thread.

According to The Fount of All Knowledge, the original Ravenloft module was 1e, and I think that's one of DM C's options for running.

The vast majority of people seem to favor pathfinder, so that's the system we'll be going with.
Now of course, I need to work on the conversion a bit, so I ask that everyone be patient. until recruiting opens up.
Emerelda- The Kargatane has been shut down, I've been visiting The Fraternity of Shadows lately.
I will be adopting elements from 3.5 Sword and Sorcery Ravenloft rules in the adaptation of this module, and I will be pulling mostly from the I6 module, with a few bits and pieces from House of Strahd and Expedition to Castle Ravenloft.
I will post a new recruiting thread when everything is getting close to launch. (In retrospect, I probably should have possed this in Online Campaign - Discussion, but no matter now)
thanks again for the input, and look to the recruiting thread posted soon.

Also, I am curious for any suggestions on how to adapt the Fortunes of Ravenloft aspect of the original quest to PBP. I would like to keep things random, as intended, but pulling off a fortune reading seems daunting. (And I'll be using the Ravenloft Tarokka deck, not a deck of cards or the Harrow deck)

The image links and a solid, atmospheric description will work wonderfully. The player getting the reading will be entranced and the others will be eager to be next. This kind of individual attention works great in a PBP setting. The slower pace means, surprisingly, that players are much less susceptible to the boredom that would plague a live game.

I would love to play (would have loved to run I6 itself most of all, just to say "I've been there"). I only know bits about Ravenloft, like the secret powers who rule it are the only gods there, really. Would it be possible to play some psychotically murderous crusader paladin? Like a full on zealot from the First Crusade? Paladins have to be LG, and Ravenloft is a setting designed to mess with people who try to be good, right? So this guy would just get more and more zealous and rigid, all the while believing he was doing the right thing because he hadn't been stripped of his powers.
