I have been engaged in a dialog, at DailyKos, on the topic of the aspects of Love, from a, perhaps, clinical perspective, and this led me to wonder.
I do not have a good deal of exposure to the many Pathfinder Adventure Paths, but I am curious if there are some plot elements in these adventures that use Love (in some form or another) as a driving element? And are there very many gamers who can recall, or are now involved in, a game that had as a central theme some aspect of Love?
Also, as gamers, do any of you have an experience in which as players you made a choice to have your character pursue an aspect of Love in the campaign you were involved in such that the Game Master incorporated your characters’ choices into the campaign?

I've run the adventure, Palace of the Vampire Queen, several times in my life, but the first time was the only time when I asked a player to consider that her character (a male dwarf) was the betrothed of the kidnapped princess.The player made the character's love for the kidnapped princess a driving force in everything that dwarf did.

Jade regeant has the potential for it. One of the reasons you go on the initial quest is because you have a crush on one of the main npcs of the AP.
In the past I have had love used as a driving element. My first character in 3rd edition, who is my namesake on these boards, married a princess of a small kingdom. Following the marriage we had a number of stories revolve around her, and me getting the party involved in kingdom affairs for her benefit. In another campaign, one player was seeking the hand of another noble lady, and to prove his worth the entire party engaged in a series of trials and competitions against the lady's family members.

Some of the numbers you need to get into strong relationships in that adventure path are pretty weird. Celibacy caravan, don't touch the npcs, lol.

I've had a couple Ravenloft games that involved love and seduction. One involved many dealings with Ivana Boritsi, Ravenloft's answer to Lucrezia Borgia. Another game I ran involved a number of seductive gnomes. Goodness, the vibes on that one were so strange... but true love was forming in that one.
I've dealt with arranged marriages and contracts for conception in a Birthright campaign, as well, although I don't call that love.
Once, a PC fell in love with an NPC who ended up getting killed by accident by another PC. That other PC got run out of the group.
In another campaign, it became a running joke. One of the PCs was a ladies' man, regularly getting too closely involved with some local, who in turn would turn into a boss monster that the PCs would have to fight.
Yeah, my campaigns regularly have crushes, true love, mistaken love, unrequited love, jealousy, seduction, love potions, jilted lovers, all that. Good times.

I don't think I know of a single adventure that has used love as plot device or even created an opportunity for it to develop. Maybe they should do something with it in rpg superstar? Sure would beat reading another boring magic item!
Yeah, there is a lot more potential to gaming than magic items and done before adventure paths.

Love is a very interesting plot point, though a very difficult one in a published adventure. I am currently putting a very tragic romance into a campaign. Basically, a lady has been searching for over a millennium for her bonded soulmate, felt him reborn time and time again, yet never managed to catch up with him before he died again. Now, she is old and tired, but this time, she finds him... And doesn't dare approach him. He doesn't remember her at all. One of my players will have a field day with this.
