We have catfolk, gillmen/merfolk (fish), grippli (frog/toad), kitsune (canine/fox), nagaji/vishkanya (lizard/snake), ratfolk, tengu (bird), and vanara (monkey). Throw in a Red Mantis Assassin and you can make the Furious Five.
Now one of my fellow players wants to play an anthropomorphic "bunny rabbit" race. If you were asked for such a thing, how might you go about it using the ARG rules to make it happen?
I'm looking for some communal brainstorming, suggestions that I can take back to our GM for consideration.

One of my players is playing a Ujina. The race is quite similar to the Kitsune, but a rabbit instead of a fox. The race is a shape-shifter type.
Unfortunately I am at work, and I don't have access to the details. I could post them if you like. The race is an advanced race (14 RP I think).
Like the Kitsune, the Ujina are based on Japanese folklore (or so I am told).

Bunnies have to eat their own poo to survive.
Just consider that when making them sentient.
"Uh... what are you eating?"
"My poo. Why?"
"... WHY ARE YOU EATING YOUR POO!?"
"My fermentation chamber evolved on the wrong side of my intestines. The first run through my body packages it up and then my fermentation chamber breaks down the plant matter so my intestines can absorb it... this means I have to eat everything twice."
"So how long ago was it that your race angered the gods?"
"Jokes on you, I evolved to think my poo tastes delicious."

Usagi Yojimbo?
Well, some common thematic features of lagomorph are how fast they breed, how quick they move, "hopping", and chewing (similar to rats in that their teeth never stop growing). Oh, and some kinds will rear up and "box" when fighting amongst each other during mating seasons.
Some other neat stuff are the mythical Jackalope (fictional supposed cross between a pygmy deer and a "killer" breed of rabbit).. and that hares (specifically) have a "jointed" braincase that is thought to help with keeping the brain safe from impacts (like falling).
.
If we were to break these down to building a race...
Breeding: No real impact mechanically, although this might affect the age categories, etc.
Size: For some reason I feel like they should be medium. That might be my bias from how they've been portrayed in media.
Speed/Jumping: Increased speed makes sense. Things like Fleet-footed, Jumper and Sprinter are all good choices if making according to Standard race; Fast (possibly more than one application) if you are making it an Advanced race.
Natural Weapons: Obviously a bite attack makes sense here, though having it customizable by adding it via a feat choice would be okay here.
Slam attack (boxing?) could be another potential. Gore attack if you are going for a more mythical Jackalope race, though these last two are more Advanced race options.
Senses: I'm feeling the low-light vision and scent (although scent optional via feat might be a little better, as rabbits aren't particularly known for their ability to smell).
Miscellaneous: Things like Nimble Faller, or Nimble Attacks and Quick Reactions are some good ones.
.
Lastly, the DM really should decide how the race fits into the world, and add a cultural feature or two to emphasize the racial background. Something like a curiosity for something (an element, weaponry, ascetic
combat style, etc), or maybe something to do with their origin story (infused with an extraplanar property, elemental or alignment, or whatnot).
Basically, something to give it that unique factor that gives a reason why it's not just some random "nimble race with a natural attack".

I've bred rabbits for years, and, off the top of my head, I'd make a rabbit race:
Small, with Fast (Medium with one of the above speed boosts if you don't like small)
A bonus to acrobatics, maybe as a class skill.
A natural (kick) attack. They can bite, but the kick is the real deal. I'd say a 1d6 slam attack
Dex +2, Con -2 Cha +2
A bonus to Reflex saves.
An Alternate Racial Trait that boost Flurry Of Blows, or maybe makes the slam 1d4/1d4
An Alternate Racial Trait that Boosts quick draw.

Not loaded onto d20pfsrd.com yet (coming soon), but Rite Publishing's In the Company of Henge, feature hengeyokai, including a hare variety of henge.
Hengeyokai traits: medium, low light vision, keen senses, multitalented (choose 2 favored classes at 1st), shapechanger, yokai traits (Stealth and Survival as class skills), weapon familiarity (great club, long bow, spear), henge weaknesses (susceptable to cold iron, +1 damage, force shapechange to true form),
Hare (usagi): +2 Dex, +2 Cha, -2 Con, base speed 40 ft.

You can see a preview of the Hengeyokai page here Hengeyokai. The pages for the feats, archetypes, and racial paragon class still need to be made and linked, but the main race page is otherwise complete.

I think they made a game out of that book, oh yes they did. :) One of the first Roleplaying games ever. Also a great book.
as to pathfinder stuff...... Cha bonuses? Bunnies survive by outnumbering their enemies, which when most carnavores think your lunch is quite a statement.
Note the + cha may be due to public perseption of someone playing a bunny... as at least 1 company made lots of money advertizing it.

Here is the custom race for rabbit-folk in use in my campaign.
Usagi, or rabbit folk, are lapine shape-shifters known for their love of learning and community. Usagi possess two forms: that of an attractive human of slender build with salient eyes, and their true form of an anthropomorphic rabbit. Usagi treasure community and make steadfast companions.
-2 Str, +4 Dex, +2 Wis, +2 Int, +2 Cha (Advanced: 4 RP): Usagi are extremely agile both mentally and physically as well as companionable, but are physically weak.
Medium Humanoid (0 RP): Usagi are medium creatures and have no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
Fast (1 RP): Usagi have a base land speed of 40 feet.
Low-light vision (1 RP): Usagi can see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim light.
Change Shape, Lesser (3 RP): An Usagi can assume the appearance of a specific single human form of the same sex. An Usagi in human form cannot use the Jump ability, but gains a +10 racial bonus to Disguise checks to appear human. Changing shape is a standard action.
Prey (Skill Training: 1 RP): Stealth and Perception are always class skills for an Usagi.
Gifted Linguist (2 RP): +4 on linguistics checks and they gain an additional language each time they put a rank into the Linguistic skill.
Jumper (2 RP): Usagi are always considered to have a running start when making an Acrobatics check to jump.
Languages (Standard: 0 RP): Usagi begin play speaking Common and Sylvan. Usagi with high intelligence scores can choose from the following: any human language, Aklo, Celestial, Elven, Dwarven, Gnome, and Tengu.
(Total RP == 14 RP)
Alternate Racial Traits:
Ujina: Some Usagi are born with an innate resistance to detection. They are generally marked at birth with solid black fur. Ujina add +1 to the caster level of their abjuration spells. Ujina also gain the following spell-like abilities: constant -- nondetection; 1/day -- faerie fire, obscure object, sanctuary. The caster level for these effects is equal to the user's character level. This (Enclave Protector: 2 RP) replaces Gifted Linguist.
Warborn: While most Usagi study the art of speech, others train to be defenders of the warren. Warborn receive Weapon Finesse as a bonus feat (Nimble Attacks: 2 RP). This replaces Gifted Linguist.
Returned Soul: Some Usagi are believed to be the reborn souls of great heroes of the past. They instinctively recall the traditional weapons of the Usagi. They are proficient in the Wakizashi and No-Tsurugi (use stat line from Elven Curve Blade). This (Weapon familiarity: 1 RP) replaces Prey.
Edit: Corrected stats. Hopefully I have caught all the errors.

Cool, thanks Caedwyr for getting the henge loaded into d20pfsrd.com :D

Give them the ability to temporarily turn metal objects into rubber. Because I am a huge Gamma World fanboy, and that's what their iconic bunny-people race (the Hoops) does.

Thanks.
Making the race a 10 RP race would be easy enough by swapping out the ability score modifiers from advanced to standard.
I'd probably go with:
-2 Str, +2 Dex, +2 Int (Standard: 0 RP). Usagi are intelligent and agile, but physically weak.

Hengeyokai and the usagi hare are now listed on d20pfsrd.com if you want to fully check out our anthropomorphic beings of Kaidan.

Like the Kitsune, the Ujina are based on Japanese folklore (or so I am told).
Ujina is the name of a village in Japan, Usagi - (Oo-sah-gee)is the correct Japanese word for rabbit my friend.

How soon do you need anthropomorphic rabbits?
Because I happen to be working on them right now.
(Raccoons and turtles are happening first, though.)

I'd make these racial feats:
Horned: some rare bunny people have a horn on their head. This allows the bunny person to make a gore attack with the horn.
Natural attack: Grants proficiency on gore attacks.
Thumper: like Rake, a bunny person who either pounces or grapples an opponent can use their rear feet to make a slam attack.
