Interesting thought for the day...
A very good sign of growth in a skill is reflecting on what you have done with that skill.
... which means we are all growing so much this year as designers, because, even in voting, we are starting to analyse why we vote the way we do and whether we are right to do so. It is asking us to examine the criteria and preconceptions we have of what makes good game design, and we are all doing so, with enthusiasm and drive.
It is quite inspiring to see over the many threads phrases like
"I wish I would have done my item differently now..."
"I have learnt so much this year from these items..."
and similar.
I don't know if the open voting was provided to consciously teach us all more about the design process, but by heck, what a bonus to achieve.
Kudos Paizo, kudos.

I agree Anthony, allowing the general population to see all of the entries allows next year's contestants the opportunity to learn from everyone else's mistakes, rather than just showing us the Top 32. I sincerely believe that next year's entries will be, generally speaking, better, even if it's that they are better formatted. I'm pretty excited. Let's get this contest underway.
