Ranger Traits?

Scarab Sages

What are some good traits for rangers?? The list of traits is massive. >_<

Magical Knack is pretty awesome (makes you cast spells, once you get them, at CL = Ranger level - 1, instead of Ranger level -3).

Reactionary and the like are also pretty good.

It really depends on what you want to do with the character, though.

Any of the "+1 to will saves" traits would probably be a good idea.

Any WILL save ones.

After considering those suggestions, there are the traits that give you class skills you lack. Since they usually have a +1 to it to, that is a +4 in the skill.

Tracker of the Society is really good for a ranger if your DM allows Pathfinder Faction traits. It gives you a +1 to initiative and +2 to survival in any of your favored terrains.

Suspicious is also good if you want to take advantage of a decent wisdom score. It gives you sense motive as a class skill and +1 in it.

Hunters Eye is another decent Faction trait if you are playing an Archer or Switch Hitter. No penalty on second range increment.

That one is not in the SRD, is it?

I found it, with Hunter's Eye you don't have any range penalties with longbows and shortbows until the second range increment.

Armor Expert reduces the ACP for armor. Considering a ranger will probably be wearing medium armor this can be useful. Combine this with a mithral breastplate and you take no ACP at all.

A ranger’s favored enemy bonus applies to sense motive, but it is not a class skill. Rangers also tend to have a decent WIS so they should be good at this. But because it is not a class skill they are not. Warry gives you a +1 with both perception and sense motive and turns makes one of them a class skill. If this is not allowed then take another trait to make it a class skill.

If the knowledge skill that allows you to identify your favored enemy is not a class skill a trait to make it a class skill would also be a good choice. If your ranger is dedicated to destroying undead it pretty bad when you can’t figure out how to defeat them.

Reckless makes acrobatics a class skill and gives a +1 with it. Since rangers usually have a good DEX you can get a decent roll with minimal investment of skill points. This is another skill that a ranger could make good use of. Why this is not already a class skill has always puzzled me. Being able to climb a cliff or a tree without being able to move around once you are not climbing seems silly.

Glory of Old gives you a +1 bonus on saving throws vs spells, spell like abilities and poison. If you are a dwarf this would be perfect. Technically I don’t see anything in the description that prevents a character from another race that is from the Five Kings Mountains from taking this trait. This would be better than the traits that give a +1 will save.
