So, Summoner item slots are limited between eidolon and the summoner, Ie a cloak of resistance only helps one of us.
I have read guides which say you can do something like a vest of resistance, which is fine for summoners just at a 50% price increase(1500g instead of 1000). Is this legal for pathfinder play? I assume that I will never find a vest of resistance on a chronicle sheet.
Am I destined to have no magical items on my summoner, or can I share?

If you want to use the item slots for your Eidolon, then, yes, your Summoner will not have any items, except when he puts on the stuff that dropped to the ground when his Eidolon goes away.
Note: Stat boosters, like belts and headbands, will only ever provide the temporary benefits to an Eidolon, because the Eidolon will go away when the Summoner sleeps. Even the feat that allows the Eidolon to stay for a time after the Summoner goes unconscious is only counted in rounds, not even minutes.

Well, since I found the cloak I was hoping off-slot items for the 50-100% markup would be available for them, but that seems to not be the case.
@kinevon: Uh ok? The stat booster items I would give him aren't really important to me at all so seems to be a non issue. If I really cared I could just take it off him before I go to sleep and then do whatever

well depending on how your summoner feels about his neck slot.
otherwise you're stuck to paying the double GP for ioun stones.
Whether or not Eidolon keeps it's items is an object of some debate, so far I have yet to have a GM tell me they don't bring their gear with them. I have played under 8 or 9 different GMs with my summoner, and he uses a weapon, and I have summoned him in with "Summon Eidolon".
the RULES don't say either way. the rules IMPLY that you should keep them, because summoning/calling bring creatures with their equipment (see hound archon with greatsword). however, it doesn't say that ability goes away when the Eidolon is unsummoned. so I would assume that item slots are always shared and the eidolon always wears the magical stuffs.

I agree that if your Eidolon is wearing the gear then it goes with them back to there home plane and would be on them when they are summoned again, but I can't find the rule that says Summoners have to share their magical items with the Eidolon. Where is that rule?

if you're using d20pfsrd you have to go to the eidolon page. It's under the "link" special ability. not life link, just link
edit.. Link

What if the summoner is a warforged and doesn't need sleep?
