Minor formatting questions for submission

The requirements of an item reference a class ability.

Is the proper format (example): Mercy class feature, Mercy class ability, Mercy class ability, mercy class ability, Mercy, mercy, etc?

I was trying to find an item that referenced a class ability and couldn't find one directly.

Furthermore, if the item requires two class abilities, are they listed by level of attainment (Mercy, Aura of Justice) or alphabetically?

Heh. Formatting to spec.Fun stuff.

This question is the last one that needs to be answered. I've had my item ready to go since last year...and the archetype for two years!

==Aelryinth

Based on the formatting for feats, I think it's "mercy class feature." All lowercase, unless it's starting a sentence.

Hmm. I thought it was Craft Wondrous Item, not craft wondrous item?

Sorry, I meant the formatting for the names of class features, as written in the feat section. For instance, "channel energy class feature" in the description for Selective Channeling. Feats themselves are capitalized.

Craft Wondrous Item is correct.

While I don't know of any core items that require specific class abilities, I would use "creator must have the mercy class ability". And always alphabetize. First feats, then spells, and finally other requirements (alignment, class, race, skill, etc).

That's a feat, not a class feature :)

He means in the requirements which goes feats, spells, other, something like...

Craft Wondrous Item, big bad boy spell, creator must have the class feature silence I keel you;

EXAMPLES OF CLASS ABILITIES:

eternal sleep hex (apple of eternal sleep)

creator must be an oracle with the desired revelation (soothsayer's rainment)

OTHER EXAMPLES:

creator's caster level must be at least three times the amulet's bonus

creator must have 8 ranks in Knowledge (engineering)

creator must be a dwarf

creator must be evil

caster must be of a specific level

creator must be able to cast spells of the spell level to be recalled

creator must be a 10th-level cleric

creator must be a universalist

EDIT: All of these were pulled from the PRD.

In the Blazing 9 practice thread this year, on page 10, about half way or so down the posts, Neil reviewed my Faith Halo which referred a class ability in the construction.

It might help and it did get past the machine :)

To answer your question with a pair of questions:

Does the Core Rulebook capitalize or italicize "mercy"?

Does the Core Rulebook list "mercy" under a "class features" header or a "class abilities" header?

Another dumb question that I am not sure where to post: do the bold and italic coding work when typed from an iPad (io6)?

I assume that if you use the bracket notation that's standard for these message boards and it works when you make a regular boards post, it'll work for the submission tool.

So if you wanted to reply to this message and try out some bold and italics on some junk text (NOT your item!!!), and it works from your iPad, it'll work for the submission tool.

So, another question. Do you put your title only in the "Title" spot or also in the body of your submission?

Does the template that Paizo provides for you to use have place for the title in the object stat block? If so (which it does) then the title should go in the stat block.

Both, and remember to bold the item name line in the body of the submission.

The brackets are code that tell the software how to build the message in the web page. You can use the same code in google, safari, ie, firefox, etc on PC, Mac, IPhones, Android Phones as it is not the hardware doing the rendering, it is the forum software on the box at Paizo :)

That's why you have to press preview to check everything renders correctly - the preview button sends the code to the server that responds with the formatted preview web page part.

Thanks, Chris, Anthony and Vic.

The coolest thing about this contest may be how much an old pencil and paper guy is learning just to submit, since I am historically computer-phobic.
