.
is there a higher level spell for lipstitch (wit2)?
or a non-psionic that does what fuse flesh (psi6/wil6) does?
i need to temporarily nerf one of my pc's bite-with-ridiculously-insane-grapple-cmb attack. i can't get anything done before the battle is over, especially now that he's full-time large, and can grapple and reposition huge opponents. (sigh)
if not, how do i go about creating such a spell fairly?
or just use gm discretion and use it as a unique spell that exists nowhere on galarion? (yeah, it's a pf ruleset campaign).
thx in advance.

not all foes are casters to do freedom of movement, and an enemy caster can't spend rounds doing that. not practical. need something that an enemy caster can cast once and take him out for several rounds, is ideal.
tanglefoot bag... it may be able to distract him for a couple of round, but he's too strong and will just rip it off his face.

Why not just levitate/ hold person (etc.) him prior to the grapple? If you need a higher level spell for him...Dominate Person / Repulsion (etc.) The way the pc is sounding I am guessing he has a high Fort and a decent Reflex save. Take advantage of the low Will, or simply manipulate the environment itself. There is also Mirror Image / Fly that can simply change things up.

I think "Strong Jaw" could be reversed (lower damage die as if the character shrank two sizes, thus losing grab (vs medium targets, assuming the creature was large atm)
Talk to your dm and get a wand or trick the pc into drinking the potion..
Or stuff his mouth with adhesive or a tanglefoot bag... Or trick him into wearing a cursed helm...

lol. i am the gm.
the thing is, the pc is played well by the player who plays him like a big lummox. the lummox is always with the other pcs who are smarter. they don't let him out of sight like parents don't let a toddler out of sight.
rp'ing to trick him into wearing something cursed or imbibe something would work, but the "parents" would catch on right away.
i think some kind of mind-effecting spell will have to do. i like the levitate idea, or something that leaves the enemy caster free once cast on him.
thanks. i'll continue to monitor for more ideas. although i am surprised there isn't something like fuse flesh.... [shrug]

Forbid action- bite (opposite of command)
The most cruel thing would be force him to bite onto an adamantium ingot (put it into candy, beguiling gift; or dominate person, cast sleep or incapacitate him, and drag him to a vivisection alchemist to yank his canines out or file his teeth down; use some creative thinking and cast a weapon enchantment that increases a weapons ability in reverse on his teeth- he'll get a fort save though.)
Find out his lowest save and use it against him-
-Fort: many options, most of the above would be fort.
-will: Forbid action, sleep, charm person, beguiling gift, use to bring to a CN or LN alchemist to 'fix this abomination.
-reflex: tanglefoot bag or adhesive in his mouth.
I'd also say it's lesser wish territory as well to make it permenant and unreversable except by greater wish.
What about the party fights an extremist religious sect who imprisons them all with the goal of fixing abominations, (and his bite).
Or, as a last resort, kill him and reincarnate as a halfling. Baleful polymorph is nice.

What's his build, and what are the usual opponents?
he's a pc hero, half-goblin, barb7, going to 8, with bite as his weapon.
he's taken feats, traits and magical effects that has turn him into a large, foe-stopping (from movement) wonder. (his cmb [around 30 on average] and cmd are just unbeatable by the usual suspects of baddies.) he can then reposition them as well. he can usually pin an opponent in 2 rounds -- then that's it. fights over, simply just can't break his pin.
he also has an ability that allow him to roll away from attacks and take no damage. (it take the occasional high hp damage hit to wound him, like from a purple worm or similar. yeah, it's ridiculous. he has been knocked out before, and died once.)
i don't want to do any permanent damage to the pc, just nerf him once in awhile so the other pcs can participate in the encounter before it ends. also, it helps me to play out certain scenarios by the baddies before he swallows them whole (lol).

How is his will save?
If he is a barbarian, it probably isn't amazing. Hit him with hold person, or charm, or suggestion, or dominate person.
There are always ways to deal with a pc, the problem is not metagaming the characters.
I'm sure you could design some encounters that will challenge this character- put some archers that spread out around the map. Give the badguys a bard that makes them do more damage. Or human bane arrows.
Put some reach fighters that have a good CMB as well from trips or whatever.
Use dispel magic to reduce the effects.
I regularly try to put my PC's into positions that challenge the tactics they have come to rely on. It makes the game fun and it causes them to realize they have not "solved" combat.

Is this an obscure reference to the Drow Interactive at Gen Con a few years back? My character was actually on the thrown when that happened, died, and my friend "won" the interactive.

thx, all. sounds like good (and fun) ideas.
i'm running an adventure path that's a "legacy" 3.5e, which most baddies are prescribed to maintain plot/story/theme integrity. i may just go in and change things up a bit is all.
his will save is his achille's heel, so yeah, mind-effecting spells are probably most effective on him, especially the baddie casters now are at higher level and have access to better mind-effecting spells.
my concern (and straddling the line) is not accidentally have him kill the party because he can't control himself (quite frankly, the party's openly admitted fear -- roflmao). it's like the avengers with the hulk amongst them.

Thats how it goes if it happens. But, the party must have someway to deal with this barbarian.
I ran the Tomb of Horrors with my group and the titan mauler barbarian got dominated (at around level 8) and he nearly killed the rogue before the party got things under control with a dispel magic.

... although i am surprised there isn't something like fuse flesh...
If you are wanting to do that, and if the caster has the time you can Stone to Flesh him, and then Stone Shape his mouth off. Granted that would not really be a quick thing, but would give the rest of the party the hassle of having to revert him back and then dealing with his mouth issue.
Another idea I had in mind was the use of Major Image. Have the enemy NPC announce to the PCs that you are taking the barbarian's mouth away, or some such. Cast the spell, and include the visual of his flesh melting and fusing over his mouth, while adding the sensation of heat around his face and the smell of burning flesh. Should do the trick.

This doesn't help at all, but rather than a spell, there is a monster template from Rite Publishing's 101 Not So Simple Templates, called the Faceless Creature CR+1 with an ability to remove an opponents mouth, and other parts of the face as part of a special curse... (this would definitely make the opponent to shutup!)
Faceless Creature (CR +1)
This creature has no facial features and has the ability to remove the facial features of creatures it touches or touch it. Its quick and rebuild rules are the same.
Rebuild Rules: Senses blindsight 60 ft.; Weakness curse of the blank face; Special Attacks curse of the blank face; Abilities +4 Con and Cha; SQ telepathy 100 ft.; does not need to eat, drink, or breathe.
Curse of the Blank Face (Su): Natural attack, touch, and melee hit—contact; save Will (DC 10 + 1/2 the faceless creature’s HD + its Cha modifier),frequency 1/day, effect blank face; opponents must make a saving throw if they perform a successful melee attack against a faceless creature. This curse can remove all the features from the target creature’s face as if it had never had those features: eyes, ears, nose and mouth. A target must make a save for each facial feature; failure removes one set of features. Each day the curse remains, the subject must make a save for each facial feature it currently possesses. Note that permanently removing the victim’s features causes various adverse effects:
• Removing the eyes inflicts the blindness condition.
• Removing the ears inflicts the deafness condition.
• Removing the victim’s nose means he can no longer smell and loses the scent ability.
• Removing the victim’s mouth means he can no longer eat, speak (no vocal component spells), and may eventually starve.
• Removing both the victim’s nose and mouth means he can no longer breathe, and he becomes immediately subject to the drowning
rules. The victim or someone else may cut a new breathing hole with a successful Heal check (DC 10 + the faceless creature’s HD + its
Cha modifier) suffering 1d4 points of damage per attempt.
The curse bestowed by this effect cannot be dispelled, but it can be removed with a break enchantment, limited wish, miracle, remove curse, or wish spell, it has no affect on creatures without a face.
(I was the person who suggested this template idea to Steve Russell in it's design, especially for use in Kaidan, as the Noppera-bo is a monster that can be described exactly as above.)

Duskrunner's idea is made of win, and I love it.
ANYWAY!
So, no casters for freedom of movement?
No problem!
The villains somehow found or created a huge batch of these rings; voila: problem solved!
But wait! You don't want your PCs to have them, you say?
Well, that's what cursed items are for!
Now, I know what you're thinking: "But that's cruel!"
Well, not necessarily, especially if your using intermittent functioning (such as, "only works when grappled), requirement ([ooc]requires double the amount of food, must swear fealty to a specific liege <the big bad, whether the baddies know it or not>, must worship a specific deity <of your choice>, must change name to a specific name <suddenly the PCs continually face "Bob"!>, character must have a minimum number of ranks in a specific skill <preferably one that most, if not all, the characters could never use like craft (underwater basketweaving) or craft (evil spirits)>, character must put some of their life energy into it, it must be bathed in volcanic lava once per month, it must have a particular spell cast on it once per day <suggestion: a cantrip or other easy-to-find/easy-to-get-at-will spell that your PCs can't really use>, and/or some combination of the above[ooc]), or drawback (preferably something that doesn't impact the villains, but would the players).
Instead of becoming cruel, it becomes simple practicality.
EDIT: To clarify, simply making magic items that work better for the enemy than the PCs isn't cruel... though forcing a cursed item that they can't get rid of could be.
If you wish for a minor bit of customization, each ring could have a slightly different secondary boon, lesser than the first, but meshing with the given bearer's personality and power.
EDIT: Another idea is a cursed item that the barbarian would find really useful (like a big bonus to will saves and extra damage on casters or something, I don't know), but would have the drawback of a sealed mouth, making him unable to use his bite. So, there's that, too.
One final thing: don't use this trick on everyone, as completely circumventing his strengths entirely isn't fun for him, either. But using this on "key" villains, perhaps with a similarly modified mantle of faith would go a long way toward solving your problems, from what I'm hearing. (Incidentally, although the mantle of faith gives DR/evil, it's not a "good" item, and thus evil characters won't take penalties and holy weapons won't negate the DR).

Well, if he is biting people and grappling them.. things like fire shield would work. Surely there are a multitude of spells and items that grant a damaging aura.. lots of monsters with them too.
Also.. I'm pretty sure there are a few methods of protecting yourself from biting creatures now.. spells and alchemical items that make anything that bites you nauseated and what not.
Use those?
