So I'm making a Society character. And I'm trying to get a hold of the "Purchase system" I think i got it down.
I have 20 points to spend on abilities.
Sense 10=0 I can put ten in all of my scores.
But lets say i want to put 18 in strength? I spend 17 of that 20 for that 18, leaving me with 3. But lets say I want to put 7 in charisma which is -4.
Does that mean i get 4 more points to spend on abilities leaving me with 7 points?
Please and thank you for the help.

Also, remember that racial bonuses (and penalties) are applied after you've spent your points.
So let's say you're playing a human and really want to start with an 18 strength. You can spend 10 points to get your strength to 16, then use your +2 racial bonus to boost it to 18. That way, you still have plenty of points left for other things.
Dump stats can occasionally be good. Just be sure you know what you're giving up. For instance, if you're thinking of dumping charisma, you should know that there are often faction missions in Pathfinder Society that you have to do alone, which sometimes require talking NPCs into stuff. Do you really want a -2 on that diplomacy check costing you success on a faction mission?
Personally, I dumped charisma on one Society PC, but I also know his faction rarely has "talky" faction missions, so I'm ok with failing the rare diplomatic mission if it happens to come up.
