A Couple Ninja Questions

Rules Questions

I was wondering about the light steps feature for the ninja. It says you move at double speed as a full round. For example, my character has a 40 ft movement speed. Does this mean I can move 80 feet or 160 ft. I wonder because I would think it would be a double move and therefore double that speed. Also, could I move at that speed at any time as long as i don't attack at the end.

My second question is about the double-chained kama. Is a ninja proficient with the double-chained kama as well as the kama. Could this be weilded as well without the minus to having two weapons if you only used one side to attack or to trip?

I would have to look at the rest, but yes double weapons can be used one sided. They are two handed weapon then also, thus dealing 1.5 str damage bonus also. You get no extra attack though. All Weapons can be used to trip now. all a trip weapon give you is the ability to drop it so you don't trip your self on a failed attempt.

It looks to me like light steps is a normal double move (so 80 ft a turn), just with the ability to ignore all sorts of hazardous terrain.

Being proficient with the kama wouldn't also make you proficient with the double-chained kama.

To note, am I correct in thinking that swift actions do not get in the way of using a full round action?

In that case, you can expend a ki point to increase your speed by 20, then move double that distance as per light steps (with the appropriate advantages light steps gives).

So, your 40 speed, using ki and light steps, gets you 120 feet of movement instead.

Edit for bad commas.

Yes light steps is only double your normal speed, in your case 80 ft, but Darkwolfs hint is also right.

Double chained Kama is an exotic weapon and ninjas are not proficient with it. As with a lot of other weapons. That should be errataed in my eyes, at least they should be proficient with stuff like the kerambit and so on.

that is a reaaly good point about the increased movement. That stinks about the chained kama. It seems like hte ninja should be profficient with that. Oh well, maybe the DM will let me count my kama proficiency as proficiency for it but no loss if not
