Staggering Fall: what saving throw?

Rules Questions

Scarab Sages

40 people marked this as FAQ candidate. 2 people marked this as a favorite.

The header says "Fortitude partial (see text)" but the text refers to will saves only.

Hope this isn't a repeat question but I tried searching for it and came up empty. Also, I don't have the Rival Guide but both d20pfsrd.com and Hero Lab show the same thing.

Thanks in advance.

what source is this from?

Darn you grick... your posting during my edit caused me to time out and erased my edited long post...

My advice boiled down to either change the Fortitude partial line to a will partial line, or change the references to Will save in the text to fortitude... either way works fine (because of its nature the fortitude save makes more sense to me).

Looks like a typo. I would assume the text is right and it should be a will save.

I marked FAQ. I think this could use clarification. I'm leaning fortitude with the description, but I'm not sure.

I would also love an answer to this question.

I'm seeing this spell come up in a lot of spell combo threads. If anyone has used this in actual play how was it ruled upon? Did the target get an initial Fort and then Will saves thereafter? That seems a little ridiculous.

I too am leaning towards Fort, but since I'm about to start a character for Iron Gods I'm hoping for Will so that it can affect robots. :3

Almost 20 people FAQed, seriously over almost 3 years no ruling on this?

Put my vote in for wanting to see this fixed too. Preferably in favor of Fortitude Save, given what the spell is doing.
