Ring of Spell Knowledge- rewritable?

Is there any actual ruling on whether a spell placed in a Ring of Spell Knowledge is permanent, or whether it can be swapped out for a new one?

I'd like to know this as well. It's kind of a confusing item. Can you rewrite it? Does it consume the scroll you use to teach the spell? Has there been clarification that I haven't found, or is it still up to interpretation?

The item says the spell stays until you put another one in, so I think that means you can rewrite it.

I also am very certain that you lose the scroll when you teach a spell to the ring. Every prepared arcane caster loses the the scroll when they teach the spell to their familiar/write it in their spell book.

Where does it say it stays until you put another one in?

Where does it say that? I am about to buy the item and discuss it with my DM, so any info on the subject would be appreciated. ATM I am only using online resources. Does the book have a different explanation then the website?

How often can you rewrite it?
How long does it take to do?

I've built a sorcerer with standard wealth at level (previous character died) with "Arcane' bloodline.

The arcane bloodline says you can have a bonded item. With a bonded item, you can cast any spell in your spellbook once a day. So I gave my Sorcerer a spellbook. Sure - he can't prepare the spells, but there's nothing stopping him from knowing the spells (Read Magic, etc). (I whsh there was a game mechanic for casting spells directly out of the book).

I'm playing it as something my Sorc can do at daily recharge time, putting spells into the rings that hopefully will be situationally useful. His arcane bond and mnemonic vestment give him a bit of extra versatility - the spellbook is full of utility spells. Communal Spider Climb, things like that (must get Rope Trick).

Beats me how legal it is.

You cannot do that:

Arcane Bond (Su): At 1st level, you gain an arcane bond, as a wizard equal to your sorcerer level. Your sorcerer levels stack with any wizard levels you possess when determining the powers of your familiar or bonded object. Once per day, your bonded item allows you to cast any one of your spells known (unlike a wizard’s bonded item, which allows him to cast any one spell in his spellbook). This ability does not allow you to have both a familiar and a bonded item.

A ring of spell knowledge is only a storage space; the wearer must still encounter a written, active, or cast version of the spell and succeed at a DC 20 Spellcraft check to teach the spell to the ring. Thereafter, the arcane spellcaster may cast the spell as though she knew the spell and it appeared on her class’ spell list.

It seems to me that the fact that there's a procedure for teaching the spell sort of implies that it's changeable. If not, it's not obvious at all why it'd be priced the way it is compared to a page of spell knowledge.

My view: Permanent, since there are no rules for changing.

Since there are no rules either way, it is acceptable for some to view it as changeable. So ultimately, ask your GM.

Is all this item does is treat it as if it were in your spellbook (or equivalent if prepared caster)? You still have to prepare it as normal (or spontaneously cast it)?

There's no utility for prepared casters, all it's for is expanding the spells-known list for spontaneous casters.
