Jade Regent & Mythic

I'm planning on using JR to test out the Mythic rules, starting with the 4th book, which calls for 10th level characters. My group only consists of three PCs, so I'm thinking of doing 9th level with 3 Mythic tiers. Any thoughts?

Also if you're familiar with JR, any suggestions of events that would work for Greater Trials, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Doing away with the first 3 books is going to hurt that. BUT, I do know the 5 or so major quest goals of the 5th books fit into these perfectly!

For those who have run JR before, or are familiar with it: What do you feel would be the appropriate ascension moment in Jade Regent? I too plan on running it with the mythic rules, and am curious to see others' opinions on that.

Best early moment of ascension would be upon discovering the Amatatsu seal in the ruins of Castle Brinewall. The kami dude inside could entrust the PCs with mythic power (a gift from his far stronger kami superiors) to aid Ameiko in pursuing her birthright. You could say that Ameiko herself isn't granted mythic power because of some kami stricture that prevents the spirits from directly interfering in the destiny of Minkai royalty. Alternatively, you could grant them mythic power later either in adventure 4, as a gift from Noburo the kami (either before or after raiding the House of Withered Blossoms), or if you want to wait until the very end, ascension could come upon gaining the blessings of all the ancestors in the Imperial Shrine.

Amatatsu Seal would be the best ascension moment.

"Greater trials" could be defeating Thorborg Silverskorr (can't remember her oni name), reaching the Crown of the World, defeating Vesundvaag, stopping Katiyana at the Storm Tower, reaching Tian Xia, clearing the House of Withered Blossoms and then sealing the ghosts of the past emperors. Assuming that most of these final bosses also get mythic tiers.
