The class skill bonus we get (+3). Lets say at level 1, i add 1 rank in a class skill like heal. At level 2, if I add another rank, do I get another +3 bonus or does that bonus only apply once per selected skill?

Ah good question I can see why that might be confusing. but It only applies the once.

I had a friend playing character for three months who had no idea what the +3 bonus meant. When we told him he put his head down on the table for about a minute and made a few deep sighs.

Then he calmly added +3 beside all his ranked class skills.

I bet I've missed a few things like that myself and have yet to discover it.

Good to know, because when you read it:

You gain a +3 bonus on all class skills that you put ranks into.

That's exactly right. =)

The +3 bonus is a simplified hold-over from version 3.5

In version 3.5, the max ranks for class skills at level 1 was actually 4 and players were granted enough skill points to compensate. So, for example, a 1st level rogue got (8 + int)x4 skill points to spend.

The correlary of that was cross class skills cost twice as much to raise in ranks. Therefore 1 rank= 2 skill points.
