paging FreeholdDM!
For those using the Darklight Sisterhood in their games, which direction have you taken with them, and how has it worked out in your games?
Have you played them up as incompetent and in over their heads, basically using them as not entirely serious rivals or even almost ineffectual sympathetic antagonists? Or are they played as a serious organization and a serious threat? Or something in between? Villainous underdogs? Unexpectedly competent foes that aren't as harmless as they might appear? Potential allies as often as rivals?
Basically, what kind of feel have you aimed for with the Sisterhood, whether they've been used as allies, enemies, or potential sources for PCs?
I've had a Chelish diabolist villain waiting in the wings for some time now. Maybe a bit of the Daddy's Little Villain/Azula(from what I've heard of Avatar) vibe going. An absolutely serious character that might be fairly sympathetic and certainly affable early on, but is pretty much bound down a very dark road as things go on. Major potential rival more-or-less.
Toying with the idea of introducing that character either as a frustrated rival hampered by her fellow Darklighters as much as her own early incompetence before she horrifically comes into her own, or as a competent-from-the-start, very shady but affable ally before going completely dark side. I was also certainly planning on having a from-the-beginning Belloq-ish rival from the Aspis Consortium, this one definitely competent from the start and hopefully infuriatingly "friendly" and almost sporting with the PCs. Currently planning on playing those two off each other, with potential three-way rivalries and temporary alliances coming and going, along with all the other allies and factions already in the AP and those other few I'm planning to add.
Alternately, this character and her retinue could just be part of the Pathfinder Society themselves, with their own agenda.
Just wondering how the Darklight Sisterhood has worked best for those using them before committing. :)

I would play them as cultists secretly worshiping an ancient triune qlippoth lord, Al'Ton-Whee'Don-Zuk'r'Burg, who snort dandelion pollen, and play Shadowrun 4 edition.
But I may be Chaotic Eevill(tm), so take my advice with two pinches of powdered cordyceps. >;)
I always thought of them as more of the "Blackleaf, no!" kind of crowd, but this angle has real promise. ;)
Uhhmmmm.....The Darklight Sisterhood ???
I have never even heard of them......where can I find info on them ?
Seriously outgunned and out-of-their-league "rivals" of the Pathfinder Society. They wind up coming off a bit like the underdogs.
Actually, if you've seen the second season of Slayers, imagine an entire sorority made up of Martina. Not entirely accurate, but damn if that isn't how the character of the organization comes off at times. :D

I too have never heard of them or Theandra (likely just forgotten since reading about Korvosa). I like the tragic and underdog angle you're going for...possibly have them made up of disillusioned Pathfinders of Shadow Lodge, having left feeling betrayed by both Lodges when they worked out their problems, only to fall in with the Sisterhood, which is secretly a plaything of a certain Devil as you say...

Why didn't you just PM me...?
This thread was brought to my attention by the players in my Darklight Sisterhood game, all of whom GREATLY resent the idea that the Darklight Sisterhood is anything like Team Rocket or...FAILURE SCAMPS? Seriously?
Nonononononononononononononononononooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo....
While I understand the organization has been retconned- and courteously left in so that they can still be used- I feel I must inform all who have inquired in this thread that the organization is a serious one in my game, populated by women of an ambitious and only occasionally ethically flexible nature, all of whom seek to bring the Pathfinder society down a peg or two subtly, primarily by beating them to many of the items they seek...or the Pathfinders themselves- fatally, if necessary. That they are relatively unknown by the Pathfinder Society is a strength, as they can operate almost in plain sight, with no one the wiser until it is too late.
Team Rocket? Failure scamps? There was nothing in the original material to even suggest this. One sided rivalry does not automatically equate with comedic stylings or unsuccessful thievery.
