Pathfinder and the Iconics!

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

What is the rub here? The game is called Pathfinder and we have these images of the iconics of the classes, but their relations are kind of fuzzy to me.
Like a lot of my friends, when Pathfinder came out I got the book and started playing. I didn't get much time to read the history of the realm and from what I have read over the years it isn't complete, but there is a lot of it!
What I gather the Iconics are mercenaries for hire by the Pathfinders...? Pathfinders by association?

The iconics are simply characters that represent the essence of their character class. If you do a search of the blogs, you can find their backstories posted for all to see. To my knowledge, none of them are a part of the Society.

Edit: I'll do you one better! Meet The Iconics.

Ty TriOmegaZero. Now I suppose the only question is do they adventure outside of the Society? That is to say, are there adventures covering them on their own for their own motivations beyond the Pathfinders?

isnt there also a comic book coming out or something?

Yes, it is already out. I have yet to get to read it, but I do have the first issue.

AFAIK, they have little to do with the Society, though they can be used as starting characters for those who don't have their own, IIRC. Theoretically they're associate with the APs (and the modules?), but I don't think that really goes any farther than appearing in the art. 4 of them used to be statted up for each path, but they dropped that awhile back. (BTW, are there stats for them online?)

There is now a comic, that will flesh some of them out a bit more.

OK, as far as I know, Ezren is the only one who is a member of the Pathfinder Society.

The comic, currently involves a party consisting of Seoni, Merisiel, Valeros, and Ezren. Harsk is hired by the group as a local guide, and Kyra is disturbed in her meditaions by a (very) hung-over Valeros, but so far they are the only Iconics to have put in an appearance.

I still think that it's a shame that the Meet the Iconics series stopped when there were only 2 left to do. They got:

All 11 from the Core Rulebook

Amiri, the Human Barbarian
Lem, the Halfling Bard
Kyra, the Human Cleric (Sarenrae)
Lini, the Gnome Druid
Valeros, the Human Fighter
Sajan, the Human Monk
Seelah, the Human Paladin (Iomedae)
Harsk, the Dwarf Ranger
Marisiel, the Elf Rogue
Seoni, the Human Sorcerer, and
Ezren, the Human Wizard.

from the Advanced Players Guide they did another 4,

Damiel, the Half-Elf Alchemist
Alain, the Human Cavalier
Alahazra, the Human Oracle (of Life?), and
Feiya, the Human Witch

Ultimate Combat Provided the following 3,

Liriane, the Half-Elf Gunslinger
Reiko, the Human Ninja, and
Hayato, the Human Samurai

Finally, Ultimate Magic gave us,

Seltyiel, the Half-Elf Magus

This leaves only (both from the APG)

Imrijka, the Half-Orc Inquisitor
Balazar, the Gnome Summoner.

I think they are slowly working on Imrijka... not sure for Balazar (no love for the Summoners).

Alahazra, the Human Oracle (of Flame?)

We will do Meet the Iconics for all of the characters. Thanks for reminding me to crack the whip.

And yes, the comic book is the best place to get the story on where these characters come from and what they're all about. You can still start a subscription here on paizo.com that will start with issue #1!

Just put these on our fancy-schmancy new project management schedule, so they are not officially inevitable.

Not or now?

As far as I know the comic is the first place their stories are being told. Check it out.
