Based on the rules I've read regarding traits if you take a trait that gives you a +1 to a skill and makes the skill class AND the skill is already class for you, you just get a +1. My roommate thinks he read that in this case you get a +2 which powerwise would make sense, since a +1 and addition of a skill as class is pretty much a +4, but I can not find any such wording in any of the documents I've read. Does this condition exist and, if so, in what document does it occur?

No it doesn't as far as I know. If you are only taking a trait for a bonus and already have it as a class skill, your just getting a single +1 bonus.
Keep in mind that traits are half-feats. A +1 is still a 5% better chance at success on something.
If your GM wants to homerule it otherwise, they are free to do so.

While the extra +3 is nice for a trait that makes a skill a class skill, understand that because it isn't normally a class skill you probably don't have the ability score to boost that skill either (not always the case of course). And it is causing you to spread your skill points around more as well.

You only get the +1. Receiving a +2 instead is a good house rule, but if that is not in place, just select a different trait. Note that technically you can have any number of traits, but you only get the benefits from 2 of them. Traits are great ways to develop the background of a character. I would suggest using that trait just for character background and then picking a trait that is more useful.

I would also houserule it to be a +2 if it's already a class skill.
As it stands, it's not worth a trait just for a +1 bonus, but that means any schmuck who takes a trait to make it a class skill ends up +1 better than a guy who actually had it as a class skill to begin with, and I do not like that.
In general, PF cheapened the value of having something as a "class skill" far too much.

I'm not sure what you guys are suggesting.
I'm pretty sure you get the bonus though. consider the following trait:
Devotee of the Green: Your faith in the natural world or one of the gods of nature makes it easy for you to pick up on related concepts. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Knowledge (geography) and Knowledge (nature) checks, and one of these skills (your choice) is always a class skill for you.
When you put a skill in a class skill per the book you get a untyped +3 bonus on the check. The trait grants a +1 trait bonus as well.
I see no reason to think they do not stack and wouldn't indeed give you a total of +4 + ranks

It isn't a matter of the trait and trained skill bonus not stacking. The question is if you take the trait that grants the skill as a class skill as well as the +1 for a skill you already have as a class skill, does it give more of a bonus than +1.
The answer, no it doesn't. Unless that +1 trait bonus was really important, you should have picked a more useful trait, because that one doesn't do much for you.

Consider what this would mean for multi-classing between two classes which have overlapping class skills. With one rank in something common (like Craft or Spellcraft), you'd get +3 to to it every time you dipped into a new class. That just doesn't make any sense, which is why it says:
You gain a +3 bonus on all class skills that you put ranks into. If you have more than one class and both grant you a class skill bonus, these bonuses do not stack.
