How many people play past 20 and what are the rules you use?

Advice

I am running a game and about to move past 20 and the players still want to go on, and I'm about to move it to a planar realm, but I was looking for some epic ideas. Right now I'm planning to use the 3.0 epic handbook, and the pathfinder core books beyond 20 suggestions to replace some old stuff.

I have never played this high, but I hope I get to some day.

If/when I do, I will not try to scale base classes beyond 20th level, I'll just let PC's multi class into other classes and prestige classes as normal.

I'm also planning to look at Tome of Horrors for high level threats to keep them challenged with.

I'm only gonna scale the abilities that have a set progression in the class.

Well, technically, you could play by the same rules you have been playing all along.

But remember this, there is always someone stronger or smarter. Just because they are over level 20 that they can just start doing whatever they want without regard to law. There always someone who knows someone who knows someone that can kick their ass (by strength of power alone or by wits: An 30ft square acid pit in a corridor with an antimagic field over it is still hard to pass over no matter what level you are since you just can't fly over it).

Huh??? I'm just looking for ideas of rules and class progress of other people moving past 20. Not needing strategies how to fight epic characters, but thank you anyway.

Picked up Legendary Levels a few weeks ago. The characters we were working on were from 3.5 and transfering over to PFRPG. If we have a need I will definitely pick up the next book from them (but no need for the newer classes as of yet).

Seeing as Paizo has stated epic level material from them will be "sometime in the future," you are pretty much on your own for what to do.

Actually... at this point, that "sometime in the future" is next Gen Con, unless you count the playtest for Mythic Adventures, which is next month. "Mythic Adventures" is how we're answering the post-20th level game.

Well that is semi good news. Semi because it will require re-doing all the damn characters again... :)

I'm going to look into Legendary Levels sounds like something useable.
