Using diplomacy faster.

Advice

I seem to remember reading somewhere that there was a way to be able to make diplomacy checks as a move or standard or swift action. Does anybody else remember this or am I just making stuff up in my head?

The third edition of Dungeons and Dragons had rules for rushed diplomacy, that might be what your thinking of?

You can do it, only when making a request.

I haven't used diplomacy much... yet. Got a paladin in kingmaker coming that should use it lot...

but I thought that Diplomacy and changing peoples opinions took time... Like a full minute? Maybe more.. and was generally useless in combat rounds.

Is there a benefit to it being a move instead of standard under those circumstances??

It came up quite a bit with the rangers 'Wild Empathy... which works 'like Diplomacy'.

NOT as cool as it sounded at level one... those wild animals are already attacking before we could influence much...

Grand Lodge

Using Diplomacy to influence a creature’s attitude takes 1 minute of continuous interaction.
Diplomacy is generally ineffective in combat and against creatures that intend to harm you or your allies in the immediate future.

It is no good against 'baddies'

but useful for the mean hearted guard, awkward civil servant, miserable farmer, etc

could always use it to convince the baddies that there is a better target than yourself.

Wouldn't that be a Bluff check?

depends on the situation

I found the feat I was looking for and it is antagonize but it just uses diplomacy for the check it isn't the actual skill. I was looking for some kind of set up with the betrayer feat that gives you a free attack after you change a creatures disposition to friendly.

Just Scale from Faiths of Balance allows you to change attitude by one step as a Swift Action. 50GP but requires someone blow a channel energy use.

Signature SKill Diplomacy lets you halve the time with 5 ranks in Diplomacy. With 10 ranks it's 1 round but with a -10. 15 ranks and it's just 1 round

Authoritative Vestments lets you use it as a Swift Action
