Rest of party trapped, need ideas

Advice

So here's the deal. I'm a 7th level bard with limited funds, only a few thousand cash to spend. My party got taken to the thieves den's base/hideout on the rock of bral. They are due for execution soon. I need good ideas on how to get my friends out alive. Also the cells they are in are anti-magic so teleporting in and out is not an option. Plz help.

From what you said, it seems something to be done by stealth, infiltration and disguise (but you are a bard so that shouldn't be a real problem).
But we could really use more info.

Grand Lodge

I suggest that you take the gold and retire to another city.

Failing that, your best bet may be to try to arouse the city's police or military to take action against the thieve's guild. You area a bard, so you should have some skills which help in that.

The only other advice that I can offer is to use some of the money to bribe a member of the thieve's guild to provide you with detailed maps of the facility and the route to your friend's cells.

Silver Crusade

knowledge local to find out who else has a beef with that theives gang. If they have a hideout, they probably have other enemys--and you know where their hideout is. Tell all their other enemys and try to get all of them to attack together. when they all attack, use it as a diversion.

Liberty's Edge

1. Ransom: some money may be better than none. The hostages are worth nothing to the thieves if they are dead. 2. In addition, you might offer them a favor which they can redeem at a later date. I assume your character is probably of neutral alignment. This might make for interesting role playing; and you do not have to tell the other members of your group about this secret deal. 3. You might additionally offer to sing or spread rumors portraying the thieves as merciful or as Robin Hood type thieves which might raise their standing to the poorer portion of the population at large.

Silver Crusade

maybe even bluff or diplomacy--you let them know you will expose their hideout if your friends are not released.

Silver Crusade

Move the guild's heart with a poem about the brotherly love you share with your party and how sad you would be if they died.

Well, without knowing your character's skill and spell set, the general layout of the thieves den and how much the thieves hate them, here are a few thoughts:

1) - Cause a distraction outside of the thieves den. One that will at least give you enough time to find a way to open the gate which will then let the rest of the party in on the upcoming / returning thieves.

2) - Sneak in and pick the lock (risky)

3) - Hire or talk a group of mercenaries and get them to go in and fight for you and during the ensuing chaos, break the party free.

4) - See how much a pack of trained fighting animals would cost and do option 3 but with animals.

5) - Use some sort of bard spell that I haven't read about (as I haven't played a bard before) creatively and see if that works.

6) - Try bargaining with the thief leader and see if you and your crew / part of your crew can do something as payment to be freed.

Those are what I came up with from what info you gave. Out of these I'd probably try the distraction method as it's probably the safest and most cost effective.

Okay, I didn't know spelljammer so I didn't realize at first what this was. "bust out of the Thieves' Guild" is serious business in the best of times, when spelljammers are involved it's plot-thread stuff. You're probably in a lot of trouble.

First up The Deal: using disguises and bluffs (don't care if you suck at it, disguise anyway) try to cut a deal. Service of skilled professionals instead of useless corpses.

Second we have The War: According to "dem write-ups wot's online" Rock o' Bral has 4 guilds. Every business that you can determine is protected by the guild holding your friends? Hit 'em while claiming the other guild(s) is responsible. Spend about 1k on incendiaries and the rest on mercenaries, once the guild is good and riled hit a business (all spoils to mercs) a ways away while slipping in the back with a hand-picked infiltration team.

Third we have The Prayer: Search for deliverance in the endless slums of The Rock. Try and find a plot thread involving unlikely heroes and people who hate the guild and want a new kingdom, a better kingdom with law and order. Or something.

Fourth we have The Joker: Cast aside morality and sanity and let the carnage start. Rob stores, murder guild members, murder innocents, sabotage navigation/propulsion systems and bring spelljammer ships crashing down over populated areas. Set bombs, set fires, mutilate corpses to look like the thousands of disguises you do it all in, and all the while find the CRAZIEST mofos you can find and try to get them to follow you. At the end as half the city burns march your nutjob army up to the doors and demand sacrifices, living sacrifices.
