This player wants to play a goblin instead of his normal human PC. We haven't run this game in a while, and he wants to switch race but not class (wizard).
I suggested his human wizard gets transmuted into a goblin, a race his character knows nothing about. He loves the idea.
But now for how...
Any suggestions?
Maybe he pissed off his god! Who does he worship?
He could have been killed and reincanated. Or discovered the long lost Girdle of Gobinization which of course turns you into a goblin before disappearing in a fantastic pyrotechnic display.

He did spend a significant part of the early plot pantsless standing in swamp water.
A b!~$~ of a witch decides to polymorphic him out of spite and see just how great of a wizard he can be as a goblin
I played a goblin archer who was reincarnated in game as a dwarf. It ended up being a memorable part of the adventure. He was reverted after a level or so.
I would make it happen in game as part of the story. It could the side effect of a magic experiment or backlash from an artifact. Don't concern yourself with doing it legally. Don't tell the player exactly when its going to happen either.
Ok like the witch idea. He likes it too.

Funny concept, elf wizard reincarnated into goblin body. love it.
