Hey I see Gray Maiden shirt re-roll is allowed? I have one of the shirts but I have been told in the past it is not allowed at tables any more??? So thought I would post since it seems to be in the PFS guide or is it a miss print?

Liberty's Edge 5/5

It is not a misprint. It is allowed as a reroll.

Sovereign Court 2/5

Anyone know if they are planning to make shirts for the new factions?

Sczarni 2/5

Rumor has it that the current faction shirts aren't selling well enough to warrant new faction shirts, though I would absolutely love to see more available (namely for the Scarni).

Sovereign Court 2/5

same, for shadow lodge

The best way to influence Paizo into printing shirts for the five newest factions is to sell out of the original ones. :-)

Gaaaaah, I'm jealous. It seems that Paizo discontinued those shirts just as I was getting ready to buy one.

Soon as I have the money, one of those Osirion ones is mine. I'd get more, but... Broke.

If I wanted and XXXXL faction t-shirt I would have bought one already. I don't. I do however want to buy a faction t-shirt. And I would never wear the colors of the Taldan scum.

Liberty's Edge 5/5

Already bought a Qadiran and Osirion shirt. Want an Andoran, but I wouldn't fit into an XS and XXL is too big.

plainly you need to switch factions! no?

then the only choice is to gain some weight! Have another beer!

(lol... sorry. maybe wash the XXL in hot water?)

Silver Crusade 5/5

Take it to a tailor!

The Exchange 5/5

how about using the faction shirt for one faction - then "paint" over it with another faction. say a ex-slave Qadiran, in faction Andoran using a Qadiran shirt with Andoran!! in red cloth paint.... just a crazy idea maybe...

Silver Crusade 1/5

Hehe I have seen a torn andoren shirt turned into a cavalier banner by attaching it to a stick. Maybe buy an XXXL and make a large banner.

Liberty's Edge

So if Paizo is unwilling to make any more shirts of the other factions and faction-loyal members without shirts to wear are denied rerolls simply because they don't wish to wear an opposed faction's shirt this hardly seems fair. If we take it upon ourselves to have a faction shirt made may we use it as a reroll shirt?

Silver Crusade 5/5

Sorry, home made shirts are not legal for the reroll. A cheaper alternative for a free reroll is the $10 character folio. Then you can wear what you want and still get your free reroll.

5/5

Custom made shirts are not eligible for rerolls. This includes shirts with the same artwork/logos of the existing reroll shirts, such as if you just wanted one in a different color.

Edit: Darn you Mr. Luckett! Beaten by 4 seconds.

Nope it's not one of the official shirts .. There are other shirt options available for the free reroll as well as the character folio

Silver Crusade 5/5

I Gnomeja'd you both!

Scarab Sages 4/5

When I asked about the additional factions the understand I got was the originals did not sell that well and that is why they have gone to the One shirt a year for PFS like the Year of the Ruby Phoenix and the Year of the Risen Rune shirts. I have the new one and it is a nice shirt and well worth the money I paid for it. I like the idea of one shirt a season more than the faction shirts.

Silver Crusade 5/5

Psst...Year of the Risen Rune...

Scarab Sages 4/5

I have no idea what you are talking about, Sir. You might want to have your eyes checked......or learn how to read..... :P

5/5

I'll get you yet. You just wait and see. You and your little Gnome too! Muahahahahahahahahahaha!

Oh, and goblins are awesome.

Silver Crusade 5/5

Why yes, yes they are.

My Goblin

5/5

Sigh. Of course I link to one of the few shirts that does not grant one a reroll.

Silver Crusade 5/5

Are you sure. I was under the assumption any Paizo shirt did the trick. It may be a missed note. Since we included previously excluded ones.

It does grant a reroll and will be included in the next iteration of the guide, along with the Risen Rune shirt.

Yay. I like it when I'm right without even realizing it, at least more than being wrong.

My wife and I each have one of those - they arrived on Tuesday afternoon, with my September subscription package. What with those, the two goblin w/gem shirts that were also in the box, and the Player Character Folios we picked up at our FLGS on Sunday, we're set up for re-rolls.

Just as long as you remember its only one re-roll per scenario.

I finally got a Folio (don't have any PFS shirts), but have yet to actually use the reroll. I keep thinking I'll need it more later!

There is always the dayjob roll :P

Grand Lodge 2/5 RPG Superstar 2015 Top 32, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

I've only played my Eldritch Knight since getting the folio, and he doesn't have a Day Job. He's also high enough level that failing a save could spell death for him, so even in the final encounter I keep thinking "I could re-roll now, but what if I need it for a Will save in two rounds?" and then I don't use it. :/

Perhaps I'll be a little more free with it when I play my 3rd-level cleric on Sunday... But then again, he can't afford a raise...

GAHH!!!

just remember that some of us can re-roll a "4" into a "2" every time. Are you one of us?

One of my players used his for the first time this week. He's had it for a month or so. Of course his re-roll wasn't any better than the original so he still missed with his musket. :)

Dark Archive

When I'm GMing the character folio goes to the newbiest player on the table to be displayed, and I explain about the promo rerolls.

It didn't help last weekend at that haunted house in hinojai...

Yep. We got the shirts because that's our preferred way to qualify, and the character folios for use at conventions for the extra days when we don't have a clean Paizo shirt, or when we we're wearing an "Order of the Stick" shirt.

Edit: And, as TetsujinOni points out, when we're judging we can lend the character folio to another player at the table.

Shadow Lodge 4/5 **** Venture-Captain, Michigan—Mt. Pleasant

Cool. Thanks to Gen Con I now have 4 volunteer shirts and two VL shirts that all get rerolls.

I only mentioned it, since I had a table or two at Gen Con that thought they could get two re-rolls since they had shirts and the folios. Then there was one guy that asked if his shot glass would get him a re-roll :eyes roll: <sigh> He actually said that some GMs allowed it. Oi

I once got a re-roll from a Desna Cleric (luck domain I think), and turned a '5' into a '3', then used my shirt re-roll to drop it to a '2'...

Yes, my dice hate me. This is why I really like Take 10.

Somehow even T10 would turn into a 1 for me. :)

Liberty's Edge

I have always been opposed on principle to re-rolls based on shirts, books etc. This just seems to me to be a rather sleazy way to sell products as well as to tamper with game balance. People should be buying product based solely on the product's merits, not to gain in-game advantage. This is the one Paizo policy with which I vehmenently disagree. It is for these reasons specifically that I have made it a point NOT to buy a shirt or book.

Shadow Lodge 4/5 Venture-Captain, California—San Francisco Bay Area South & West

I don't believe I've ever actually used a re-roll (other than one explicitly granted to me in-game by an ability or spell from another player). In general I agree with the opinion expressed above - out-of-game activity shouldn't have in-game repercussions.

The exception I usually make is the Munchkin bobblehead (and, now, T-shirts, bookmarks, ...) - it's totally appropriate in that game to get every bonus you can. But Munchkin isn't Pathfinder.

I will point out that we waited until now to buy shirts, because Paizo long ago sold out of the original Goblin/d20 shirt in any size we could wear. We bought the "Year of the Risen Rune" shirts because we like the design - my wife may well end up with custom-made Sihedron jewelry. The player folios were really bought because of the handy reference tables printed on them (and to purchase something at our FLGS; now I get most things on subscription, so they don't make as much money off me as they did before).

Had we been mainly interested in re-rolls we could have bought faction shirts a long time ago.

On that topic, I am pretty sure the real benefit to Paizo is the fact that you are promoting PFS in the wild. Everyone at a game store, on the same table, wearing almost the same shirt attracts more attention than random people. I think its you as a player promoting the game you love is whats getting the free reroll. Which is why some GMs won't allow a reroll if you are not wearing it and just have it in your backpack.

*Disclaimer: Not naive, I'm sure the extra sales are also a factor. But I think the promotion is the bigger one.

Maybe Mike Brock was referring to the Gray Maiden shirt and not the Goblin with a Gem shirt because this has still not been put in the guide... I believe two versions have come out since he posted.

I have this goblin holding a gem shirt and told the players at my table that technically it does not give a free reroll. When I play instead of DM, I wear my Year of the Risen Rune shirt instead.

Maybe there should be a kickstarter to release a new batch of shirts for the new factions.

The "influence Paizo by buying more old shirts" idea isn't going to hold much water for hardly anyone, I'd think. But let's face facts, we all want to see a bigger variety.

Might be a good idea... but for the back burner for now. Very much talk is going around about the factions changing, so releasing new shirts for it wouldn't be prudent just yet. But that's all rumours, so with a grain of salt take it, yes. (Sorry, bit of Yoda slipped out.)
