Playing in Evil Campaign soon- Need Character Advice!

Dark Archive

My wife is going to start an evil campaign for our group (using the Way of the Wicked 3pp Adventure path).

I have many character ideas, but I was thinking the group really needs a cleric...

Help me make a cleric of Asmodeus interesting. I was even thinking Tiefling Fiendish Vessel from the Advanced Race Guide.

Any thoughts?

I always wanted to play a Evil Summoner. Use the Planar binding spells to bind Succubi to my will and use them in secret to do my bidding. Maybe a Baylor at higher levels.

Are there any domains that give you Planar binding so you can do something to that effect?

if you play an evil cleric make a char that can be a survivalist, and have a pressure of power that can make others think twice of attacking or backstabbing you.

If you want a cleric I suggest undead creation and summoning focus for it, get an undead companion or "familiar" if possible

You could also look into Orcale, or a multiclass char, Oracles have fun abilities, Lore Oracle as example could daily give you the ability to make multiple skill checks with +20 bonus

Cool, thanks!

Do you want help with stats and feat selection or help with character personality?

Grand Lodge

I have a cleric of Asmodeus for Pathfinder Society play. He has no healing spells or abilities at all. Do NOT even think to ask him for healing you pathetic snot rag. If you need healing then you are not fit to live anyway.

He has tons of Channel Negative energy uses per day and uses them liberally. Allies in the way... then you shouldn't have been.

I do love summoning... some of the devils have some wicked cool abilities... assuming he GM will let you use a customized summon list. If not fiendish critters are still quite useful and add tons of flavor. A fiendish Eagle at first level appears, wreathed in unholy black flame, dripping melting tar from its eyes as it screeches its infernal bellow as it attacks with twisted, deformed claws! All just fluff, but so much cooler than "it's an eagle with the fiendish template added."

@Fleshgrinder- I don't need stat help (plus the stat generation for the adventure path is different). Thank you though!

@Krome- That does sound cool... 'supply your own healing, punks!'

"Supply your own healing" is maybe more chaotic than lawful--perhaps your cleric expects payment or first dibs on magic treasure or some kind of service or promise of future favors in exchange for healing (contracts, as it were). You could also play him as a Dirty Harry kind of person, not very talkative (unlike the 'face' clerics of most parties) but quietly menacing and coldly lethal with the smackdown. I would suggest spells that buff the party and debuff the enemy as opposed to unleashing chaos on the battlefield.

@QXL99- How is not spending my slots on cure spells Chaotic?

Note, I am not trying to play the party healer. I just thought the group could use divine magic since we have an alchemist, a ranger, and a magus.

Not spending slots on cure spells is at worst Neutral on the Lawful/N/Chaotic scale to me. As an evil character you are well within your ethos to heal or not to heal at your own whims. I agree that you could charge gold/magical items/favors to provide the healing if you chose to do so, otherwise it's up to your party members to spend their own gold on purchasing potions/scrolls/wands to heal themselves up w/o bothering you. Just because you are a cleric doesn't make you the automatic healbot in a group even if it's a GOODLY group. You could choose to play a battle cleric who wades into the front lines with your fighter and do just as much or more damage with your weapon rather than sit back and fire off spell after spell to debuff enemies or heal and buff allies. It's all in the kind of character you want to play and I say that you should never feel forced to do something with your character based on preconceived notions by other party members.

I'd go with NE, myself.

Think if it as the ultimate pragmatist with their own self-interest as the pinnacle of their hierarchy of values.

They not necessarily evil as much as they just don't care who they hurt to get what they need, but they don't necessarily cause pain just for enjoyment. This means you can heal your party members without feeling too goody good, as you're doing this to further your own goals.

Of course, NE can also be like the guy who lives to further evil, but I've always found that personality a bit odd. No one "lives to spread evil.", they commit "evil" acts to further their goals.
