Name: Pax Gaming Community
Alignment: Good. Simply stated, this will be a good leaning Company. We will likely accept anyone from Neutral Good to Lawful Good.
Role: Crafters, Kingdom builders, Heroes.
Accepted Roles: This will largely be discussed as this game moves from demo to production phases. Most likely accepted roles will vary from protection, adventure, development, to crafting. We will be more hero than villain. This means that crime will not be an acceptable role in the Company. Actively seeking out criminals, on the other hand, will be fully supported.

Voice Chat: Teamspeak
What is the Pax Gaming Community?
Pax Gaming is a collection of community minded members committed to enjoying games of all sorts together. The community has been around since 2001, and has been experiencing games together ever since. We are a community first, and a game aspect later. This means that we fully support all playstyles including PVE, PVP, and RP. Our interests are not focused on a single game, but includes many MMO's as well as tabletop, shooters, and more. Who a recruit is as a person weighs more heavily than any other consideration. We are a group of friends, family, and like minded geeks. Many of our members have met up in the world, and at conventions you can expect to see a table or two with Paxians. While our numbers steadily grow over the years, the quality of our family remains our single largest benefit.
Pax hosts our own server for teamspeak as well as our forums. We have an organized charter that outlines a very simple yet definitive set of rules to maintain the level of community we wish to provide. While we strongly encourage participation in roleplay, no single element of a game is enforced. Our concern is for our members to enjoy gaming together. That being said every division of Pax Gaming has origin stories, roleplay officers, and event planners. We also promote and support officers in charge of pve and pvp content as well.
In the end our name best describes who and what we are. Pax is a community, above everything else. It is a common phrase for us to state that we recruit the player, not the "toon".
Is Pax Gaming Recruiting for Pathfinder Online?
Pax Gaming currently has no forum support of a Pathfinder division. The community is extremely excited about a fantasy sandbox hybrid, and has been actively involved in the process from the Kickstarter to now. We encourage anyone interested in our community to check us out. We play plenty of games together, including dice oriented games on our voicechat servers. In time as this game moves from the demo phases to production and alpha, we will be formatting specific forums on our main site to support Pax members that are interested in this game.
Why join Pax Gaming?
Many Pax Gaming members call Pax their second family. We cherish the members we have developed over the years and our cohesion quickly becomes apparent whenever we begin approaching content. Our drive is cemented in an environment where members can explore progression, role-play, and player versus player gaming competitively. Time and time again the Gaming Community has been able to achieve these goals while maintaining a community first mindset. A game is played to have fun, and this family provides opportunities for varying playstyles to flourish.
Pax Gaming has been around since 2001. Since that date we have had successful guilds in many MMO's, Pax Gaming has never disbanded, and never has been without at least one MMO our members have been playing. We will stay in an MMO as long as it's members are there, we will not shut down a division just to move to another MMO. If you are looking for a guild that isn't just a rest stop to another goal, this is the home for you. If you like mature members that are socially active outside of raid nights, this is your guild. If you think achieving content progression does not require yelling and degradation, look no further.
This will NOT be a guild that folds. Our SWG Chapter of Pax Imperius stayed active and going strong since the servers first opened. We remained active through the games turbulent history. Pax remained there until the game itself was shut down. Over the last eleven years Pax has remained strong and active.
Pax has always looked at each members contributions to their division and community fairly. A member advances through effort and not through a veteran system. We have leaders and officers that have been with Pax Gaming anywhere from a couple of weeks, to eleven years.
We have opportunities to move up in rank, even by newer members. We have a history of giving dedicated members a chance at being in a leadership position if they show the dedication and drive, no matter how long they have been a member of Pax. We are not a guild who shows favoritism to our “veteran members”.
Pax Gaming always recruits the individual. We're always looking for those who will fit well within our family. This means we are never looking for your chosen playstyle, "level", or gear. We are interested in growing our collection of high quality members. We are here to recruit you, not your "toon".
Above all Pax is a family and you will form friendships within our guild. Many of us have become RL friends, traveling to meet up with each other when we can and one of our members even hosts a New Years Eve party where all Pax members are invited.
We support all play styles. Role-Play, Raiding, PVP, Crafting, you name it, all of our divisions support it. We have been doing it since the launch of Star Wars Galaxies we know what works and doesn't when it comes to all encompassing
Our members have years of experience in RP, PvP and PvE in a variety of games. Many of our members are held in respect on their respective servers. Pax members are always willing to give advice and a hand if you need it.
Pax Gaming is eleven years strong with hundreds of members spread through different gaming divisions:
Our Charter is a ‘living document’ that out lines our guild structure, Chain of Command, Rules of Engagement, Codes of Conduct and general guild rules. You may view our charter here
We are currently not ready to begin recruitment for Pathfinder Online. If you are interested in our community, however, we suggest you drop on by. We will be fully supporting a Company for this game in the future, and if you currently play any of the games we have established divisions in, you might find us a good fit. Once a Pax Member has been accepted, they are free to join any game we are playing without further applications. This means that while we are not recruiting for this specific game, your application to another game we play means you can be a member of our Pathfinder Online division in the future.
First you will need to go www.paxgaming.com to register with the Pax Community.
Our application process is a two week application period, during this two week period you will interact with Pax Gaming members and make sure you are a good fit for our guild. This two week period is also here to help you determine if our guild is a good fit for you.
Full instructions on joining Pax Gaming can be located here

Pax Gaming became my home a little over a year ago and I will say they are no friends of mine, they are my family. They are by far the greatest group of folks I have ever met. It is great to have a group of folks to play games with regardless of what game it is. Please feel free to drop in and say hi to us!

Welcome from the Great Legionnaires! It's good to see so many good aligned companies joining. Working together we should have a real chance to make this game have an awesome community.
Thanks Andius, we are definitely glad to be here.
Hilariously enough, Pax is not always good aligned in the games we play. Our historical beginnings in SWG under Pax Imperius, was more than a little bit tyrannical in nature. The original motto was "Peace Through Fear, His Will be Done". Mostly it was evil done for a believed "good" result.
In Rift the community chose to go Defiant. That particular game had no baseline good or evil. We did chose the secular, heretical faction and went with a neo-science slant. In TSW our division is in the Illuminati, and while the story I wrote was more Bavarian, story arcs are full of questionable acts to maintain a status quo.
We have branched out into good leaning guilds, many of them herioc in nature. Our republic TOR division is based on an elite trooper squad and jedi enclave determined to restore the Republic and defend its citizens. In Lotro our Thallion division is also herioc, even bardic in nature. Infinitus in STO is federation based and good as well.
I have abstained from getting in to too many details for what we plan once this game is released, but I wanted to at least make a decision on base alignment. In a game like this, similar to our Eve division, the evil and good determinations actually mean something. If you want to aim for evil in a themepark game, most of your acts are done in cutscenes or on quests. In a well made sandbox, a criminal murders players and takes their stuff.
Its a great dynamic, and one that Pax has always enjoyed in games. Choice and consequence really liven up a setting. It does force us to make a choice on what those interested in this game in the future see as an enjoyable experience. For most of us that was summed up as heroic. A lot of it is the setting, and a lot of it is the system. I have the most fun playing a hero in fantasy, and not a villain. This is a shared view with most of us that are looking closely at this game.
You also have to consider server reputation, or how you would like the game community to view us. In this regard we wish to be seen like our Eve chapter is. We should have no qualms going after criminals and those known to prey on others. We should not look down on taking their stuff, either, that's just payment. Outside of that we are at our best when we strive to be a prominent name in the games we play, and one that other guilds can respect. This is best done inside of the "good" alignment.
Thanks again for stopping by our little thread, and as Pax moves with this game towards development we greatly anticipate getting to know and working with Companies like the Great Legionnaires.

Welcome from The Seventh Veil as well.
Your organization reminds me somewhat of Gaiscioch. They are also a gaming community that spans multiple MMOs as well as real world sporting events and lots more. I was part of their organization Rift for a time, and it was truly awe-inspiring seeing an organization that was able to field literally hundreds of players at a time.
We wish you success in PFO, and hope that you share our goal of establishing Peace and Order.
We are very interested in opening formal Diplomatic Relations with many other Companies, and would be honored to open those lines of communication with you.

One of your founders, KitNyx, was nice enough to stop by and give our community a look see. I noticed the application this morning. I look forward to seeing the application process as it continues over the next few weeks.
Pax is always interested in alliances in games like these. Emunio utilizes it in Eve, and its something we will be looking at as time moves on. There is a much greater safety in increased numbers, as long as the terms are amiable for all parties involved. In an effort to build a company for heroic characters, the constant striving for peace and order is paramount. Finding those that share that view helps all of us ensure that our kingdoms can flourish better.
I have to note that I have lurked posts that you have responded to since the creation of these forums, and have always been impressed with your responses. Every point you make seems to be weighed carefully, pulling from your experience in other games to make educated and fair responses. I am guilty of hoping that you would drop by once I made this thread, and I am glad that you have. I look forward to the diplomatic relations Pax and the Seventh Veil can have in the future, as well as chatting with you more.
Best of luck to the Seventh Veil, and the light of knowledge it might shine into the realm.

What server were you on? I recall a guild on my server with a remarkably similar name and outlook on life.

Scylla, Imperial of course ;) We had a blast in that game, building cities and diplomatic relations with other guilds both for peace and organized wars. After all, having good enemies is just as important as good allies.
I look forward to getting to know the PFO community more, I'm incredibly excited about this game.

Have yet to see any evil companies yet. Although I bet a LE one will show up eventually. Seeing how CE is very hard to remain stable and NE is usually too self serving.

With the way this game is saying it will work, I'd say evil alignments are just a matter of time when the game launches. Regardless of what people think their characters might be, there will be people in the game that change their alignment to evil just by participating in the open pvp.
Its my favorite part of their plan, consequences. Once those evil players start showing up, you can bet they will band together for survival.

As a member of Pax gaming for the past 10 years, I can say that there's a good bit of excitement over on our forums about the possibility of a sandboxy fantasy game.
We've got a lot of table top groups utilizing TS atm to play together, and a good chunk of those are using Pathfinder as the system of choice. So, we've already got a nice solid foundation of Pathfinder RPers and MMO gamers all in one place.
This game is a combo for success, for me =)

Agreed. What I believe will be the dynamic will be the eventual existence of predatory "bandit" groups which try to strike out and take what they can from targets - which often means raiding caravans and "good" groups. Good groups, engaged in PvE and creation, are not 100% committed to squashing the predatory groups, and see such predation as a problem to mitigate since they cannot completely destroy them. A predatory group which overreaches will draw other evil factions off to steal from them, or even draw fire from the good groups until they are put back down.
Distance equals risk of predation, which changes the market values for goods. Location changes the risk of predation, leading to struggles for area control for unexploited hexes. Monsters threaten "bandits" as much as they do anyone else, prompting them to dig in and fortify as do other players. Some craftspersons work for the bandits. Some groups who are outright evil oppose banditry because it's bad for their business.
This sounds exactly like the kind of dynamic a lawless developing region in a fantasy world should have.

Pax is currently running a tabletop adventure under the Pathfinder ruleset in the Golarion world setting.
There are a few liberties we have taken, but otherwise everything down to the timeline and pantheon is followed. Right now everything takes place on a small island continent off of the known Golarion map called Callambea.
This continent is situated similar to how Australia is on Earth's map (in Golarion terms southeast of Sarusant). A large expanse of turbulent seas separates it from the known lands and serves as an explanation why this island is greatly unexplored.
The politics of this island revolves around explorers, pirates, and various sea fleets crashing upon the shores. Getting to this land takes it toll, and many boats are lost before even seeing a shore. Those that do make it often are unfit for sailing again.
An event called the Red Founding marks the first human landing on the shores of a island dominated by elven nations and monster hordes. The majority colony hosts landing here are human, with halfling slaves and a smattering of dwarves and gnomes. Upon landing they are almost immediately set upon by hordes of giants, orcs, trolls, and goblins.
The Red Founding is an all out war for survival starting at 2650 AR and lasting six years. For five years the humans and the species that sailed with them vie for survival on this new land. On the fifth year, seeing a way to permanently diminish the monster host, the elven nations rush in to aid the colonists. The end of the Founding is sealed with a pact with the elves, called the Oaken Pact.
What follows will be a brief history of this unknown island, its settlement, and mysterious events that push these citizens from their new home back to the known continents and the River Kingdoms.
Its a heroic, high fantasy series of campaigns that span into the higher levels and takes place over several generations, updating our wiki with lore as the ball is pushed down the court.

Considering this, and similar events by The Seventh Veil and The Great Legionnaires, I can't help but think that Paizo and Goblinworks hoped that Pathfinder Online would serve as a bridge between MMO Players and RPG Players, introducing each to the other way of gaming. And I can't help but be thrilled that they're already proving so successful.

My mistake, we will of course accept Chaotic Good. I suppose I should have simply stated any "Good" alignment that retains a semblance of selflessness in some regard. Thus really anything but True Neutral, Chaotic Neutral, Lawful Neutral, Neutral Evil, Lawful Evil, and Chaotic Evil. Said even simpler anything on the scale of "Good" will most likely be acceptable.

One of your founders, KitNyx, was nice enough to stop by and give our community a look see. I noticed the application this morning.
Aye, I did (Forencith = KitNyx)...thank you for the kind welcome. While I am a Founder of the Seventh Veil, and in PFO my focus will continue to be the Seventh Veil, after reading over your website and especially your Charter I was thoroughly impressed and made the decision that in future gaming endeavours, I would like to be part of the Pax community.
For any who are curious, Pax is a multi-gaming community that started as a SWG guild...and continued to grow. It is very well organized and promotes tolerance of most gaming styles non-exhaustively including RP, PvP, and hardcore Raiding. Griefing is (rightfully in my opinion) explicitly against the RoE.
The particular beauty of Pax is that is defines a greater community while allowing almost full creative and governing autonomy to the sub-parts of that community found within each game.
And...I have to mention...Pax has some of the yummiest signatures I have ever seen!
In Pathfinder Online, the other players will be a major part of the content. I do not see my loyalties torn...because as both a member of The Seventh Veil and the Pax community, I will have unique access to joining two great communities. My Character's loyalty will always lie with The Seventh Veil, but I as a player and a guild leader realize that no matter what happens, it is my job to empower my guild members. Having access to alternate communities allows me to coordinate events and such...and although I do not see it as a possibility, if by chance the Company Pax decides to field and TSV end up at odds with each other...in a game in which the community is the content, enemies are just as if not more important than allies. There is no reason friends and enemies cannot realize they are all part of the same community, keeping the battles in-character as they should be.
Dak, please correct me if I have stated anything incorrectly or that you disagree with.

I see no situation where Seventh Veil and Pax cannot be allies. We hold a lot of the same in game ideals, or will once we are ready to discuss these things.
Pax understands sandbox games, and the importance it holds in strong alliances. We have a rank on our forums for just such a person at our website. Emunio for one uses alliances to accomplish goals, and I see the division that comes along in the future for PFO to do the same.
For clarity, Pax's charter does allow for recruits and members of Pax to be a part or leader of any other guild Pax currently does not have a division for. There are also allowances for people with characters on other servers. The article that this is stated in is expressed here :
7.6 MULTIPLE AVATARS:
Two-boxing or multi-boxing is a play style that many players, who can afford it, enjoy doing. Other players enjoy leveling multiple characters and/or have the Serial-ALT complex. With regards to using multiple characters or avatars, Pax membership and privileges will depend on the player, but for role-playing purposes each avatar will be treated separately. Any equipment or items given out for participation in hunts or raids will be based on the performance of the present avatar(s). Multi-boxing during raids is discouraged unless you can do it well thus it is dependent on the discretion of the raid leader. Only the player (or "main" character) will be eligible for promotions within the division. Alternate characters will be treated in a separate category in game dependent upon the guild management tools available. Furthermore all your characters on the same server and game as a Pax division must either be a tagged Pax member or remain un-guilded. We do not allow a member to have alternate avatars in other guilds as that can create a conflict of interest.
What might not be clear, and might need clarification, is that characters that were apart of a guild before showing interest for Pax are considered grandfathered. Their characters in the game they were playing before applying can remain tagged in their prior guild. You are basically grandfathered. The Pax Gaming Inner and Outer Councils do not wish to punish those that applied to guilds before we showed official interest in a game, and before you even applied to Pax. Characters in games henceforth however need to be tagged with Pax or remain unguilded.
Its a point I think Forencith understood when reading our charter perfectly, but something that can sometimes be confused. The language of 7.6 is indicative of alternative characters of current Pax Gaming Members, in divisions Pax has built a division for, remaining in Pax.
Great reply Kit, I greatly look forward to working with you and Nihimon in the future. Pax makes a good friend in part because our longevity is already proven. An alliance in Pax will not fall because the division folds.

I am inviting any interested PAX Gaming Community members to the GL clan meeting tomorrow(or today). We will be discussing the implications of the latest blog and as a potential ally your input and ideas would be appreciated. Any PAX member is welcome to attend but I would especially love to meet Dakark and any other PAX leadership. I will be extending invitations to a few other good aligned companies so this would be a great opportunity to have a good-aligned meet and greet, and possibly form some lasting bonds or discuss treaties/future meetings. Please PM me if you wish to attend and I will make sure you get our Teamspeaks details before the meeting happens.
The meeting is at 7PM PST, Wednesday June 11th. Hope to see you there.

Apologies to the community for the absence on this thread. We have launches for two popular games coming in the next few weeks, and one that is in its first few months of launch. It's been keeping Pax busy for a little while, but I expect this thread will begin to get more active again soon :).
In other news, it is looking like things are shaping up for the beginning structure of an official Pax division for Pathfinder Online. Hopefully soon we will be able to announce a division name, primary goals, as well as open up division recruitment. Keep in touch for more information on this soon (tm) !
In the meantime Pax is still taking social applications, or recruits interested in joining the Pax Gaming Community as a whole. Once your application period is complete you are a member of not just one division, but any Pax guild that is formed for any game you are interested in.
We have a presence in many MMO's, and more that are in the development stages. We also have groups and support for virtual tabletop gamers (dnd, pathfinder, shadowrun, etc) as well as first person shooters.
