Dak, you made me want to join Pax Gaming all over again with that post. It is definitely something I would do all over again. While Kard and I are away from our family by blood, our Pax family is always here for us. Right now I am not even playing a MMO game with Pax and yet I always have our shoutbox open and chat all day long (often to avoid doing homework). I am in three of the Pax PnP games though (all Pathfinder!) and while I love the holidays I can't wait for the busy to end so we can start those games back up again.

On that note, I am going to go play XCOM and see if my soldiers (all named after my fellow Paxians) can save the world from the aliens.

I have serious concerns that this game is going even remotely resemble Pathfinder. With the focus on PVP and town building over going on grand quests to save the kingdom (or any other quest) is always going to be a concern of mine. When i think if Pathfinder or DnD, i always think of the small group, going up against odds to beat whatever vile plan the BBEG has for the world. I dont tend to think of open world pvp and placing bounties.

The fact that they are going skill based and not class based (even if the skills are themed based on the classes), takes alot away from the uniqueness of the classes and will lead most players being a "mix and mash" of useful skills (basically min/maxing) instead of the more focused characters im used to in PnP.

But the fact that they are listening and hopefully taking ideas the future players are putting forth is a comforting thought.

Personally, in a game with this type of time and investment, min/maxing is a non-issue. It is about the character, the settlement and the story that can evolve from it. Min/maxing is something some types of folks do, but in a game that will be slow and steady progress instead of racing to max level I think min/maxing is not going to be all that common, at least in my opinion. I know my characters will be built based upon their backgrounds, goals, personality, and profession direction and not based upon min/maxing at all.

Some min/maxing will happen in any game, with some folks, but only if we decide to do that. Instead I chose to focus on being true to my character concept instead. And from what I have seen of the stories our members are coming up with so far, I think that character concept is going to trump the min/max factor by far.

Well, due to my personal character development Gilsa will not be my main upon release, so I have updated my info on here to reflect that. She is not disappearing though. Let's just say she is hibernating in her wagon-hammock for the winter. ;) So my human cleric of Sarenrae, Thera, is now on deck.

I voted for Pax Aeternum of course. Go team go!

Thanks to Kard for recording the meeting and getting it posted up so fast! I had wanted to attend it myself, and even gave it a good try, but was unable to be at my desk that long so it was nice to not miss it entirely.

Yeah a lot of Pax Gaming holiday events going on in our various divisions, it is great to see. With so many games being f2p now it is even better because it means many of us can now "afford" to hope around to all of the events.

May your holiday seasons be all Natural 20's everyone!

Hello all!

I am so excited by the second kickstarter and am crossing all my fingers and toes that halflings win!

That being said, I can't wait to start building our own Paxian area. I never got to be part of SWG and see Dark City in all of its glory, but I am sure we can make something to be proud of here. I can't wait to log in for the first time, and yeah I know I have a bunch of time to wait but still, excited!

Pax Gaming became my home a little over a year ago and I will say they are no friends of mine, they are my family. They are by far the greatest group of folks I have ever met. It is great to have a group of folks to play games with regardless of what game it is. Please feel free to drop in and say hi to us!
