I can understand that you need to be CL 10th to benefit from the feat for a spell like shocking grasp... but what about a spell like searing light ? must I be CL 10th to benefit from the feat for this spell, is it CL 15th, or is it CL 20th since it's 1 die per 2 levels ?
I stated searing light as an example, but if I take a spell like pellet blast, must I be CL 10th or CL 20th to benefit from the feat ?

Intensified Spell: "An intensified spell increases the maximum number of damage dice by 5 levels. You must actually have sufficient caster levels to surpass the maximum in order to benefit from this feat."
I think that second sentence is referring to the old maximum, not the new one.
For instance, at CL 5, Shocking Grasp does 5d6 damage.
At CL 7, it still does 5d6 damage, because the maximum is 5.
An intensified shocking grasp at CL 5 also does 5d6 damage. You don't benefit from the feat because you don't have the caster level to surpass the old maximum.
A CL 7 intensified shocking grasp should do 7d6 damage, because the maximum has been raised by 5, to 10.

Oh ok I get it... so I assume that a spell like pellet blast, would deal up to 10d8, but since it's a 1 die/2 levels spell, you would need to be CL 20th to get the maximum of it.

Pellet Blast goes up in damage dice every two levels to max at 5d8; the Intensify Spell feat allows you to increase that "damage dice" by 5 "levels" if you have sufficient caster levels. The result would be a 14th level spellcaster or higher using Intensified Pellet Blast that deals 7d8, at maximum. If there's errata or clarification on Intensify Spell, I could be wrong.
I'm sure someone FAQ'd this weird wording by now, right?
