I am building a one and done lvl 5 dragon ride. I am the normal dm for my group but this week a friend of mine is guest dming so I can play for a change. I asked for suggestion on a fun one time out of the norm character and landed on the Dragon rider.
Here is what I got thus far.
Base rolls
14 Str 14
22 Dex 18 (+4 Drow Noble)
10 Con 12 (-2 Drow Noble)
15 Int 13 (+2 " " )
18 Wiz 15 (+2 " " ) +1 Lvl 4
18 Cha 16 (+2 " " )
Character feats: Point blank shot, Precise shot, Mounted combat, Mounted Archery
BRONZE DRAGON
Dragon Feats: Hoover, Wing over, Fly by attack
I am looking at a death from above type of character. I am thinking of giving them two efficient quivers and having the dragon and rider stay above most combat shooting throwing and lobbing things at the monsters.
with the two quivers they can have 12 spears 36 javelins and 120 arrows fully loaded.
I have 10500 to spend on equipment and gear.
I am also looking at a lance for the other main weapon.
I've heard that the dragon rider-as-mobile-platform-of-point-doom works well. Check out this free download for some feats too.
the DM does have one rule all the classes and races must be part of the srd or prd. looking for those feats now thanks
Those feats aren't on there. Although with just 1 page of feats, you could probably just print them off.

I am looking to dip into a level of alchemist for the Bombs Death from above.
Just an observation, and I'm obviously making some assumptions about your game world here, but would a "good" dragon allow a dark elf to bond with it? With that in mind, the idea of a dark elf on a black dragon, in my mind, would be awfully cool.
They're suppose to be within one step in alignment.
Okay, then unless the dark elf is some kind of abomination to its people (promoting law and goodness), or the game world in question doesn't have dark elves as chaotic evil, then there would be a problem with that bond. The bronze dragon's alignment in the Dragonrider guide is Lawful Good.
I am a NG Drow Noble (yes an abomination) The character is out cast of his kind. The Idea is the Dragon is leading the Character to a more lawful good alignment In hopes of redeeming the drow. ( I know impossible but it is a goal) As to the world I have no idea it is a one and done fun setting.
