This is probably a really stupid question.....BUT.....

When coming out of a PrC class, if you return to your base class, do you pick up where you left off, or do you pick up at equivilant current level ?

Where you left off :)

So basically, a PrC prevents you from gaining the 20th level payoff ability in a class?

yep, works just like multiclassing into any other core or base class.

What about level dependant abilities ?

For example, a witch takes a PrC just prior to gaining her first major hex...when she begins taking witch levels again, she's at let's say fifteenth level....does she need to wait until she has ten full levels of witch to get major hex ?

Any time a class mentions level, it's talking about its own class. Unless it specifically mentions "character level", "hit dice", or other classes (such as "X stacks with levels from other classes" such as with rogues + assassins) then it means "levels in this class". So when a feat says it requires a 4th level Fighter, it means someone with 4 levels of Fighter. When something says you get an additional use of it every 4 levels, it means 4 levels in that class, and so forth.

I'm pretty sure if it was otherwise, I could make some truly goofy multiclass characters. Especially with barbarians (what with their getting more rage every level). :3

OK, I think I have my head around all of it...

Many thanks folks ;)
