Great. If you have any questions, want to discuss anything, or need the Teamspeak address so you can pop on and say hi just let me know either here or via PM.

Liberty's Edge

I would like to join your company, I will most likely be playing as a NG half elf wizard

Goblin Squad Member

Good to see people organising in advance. Is anyone keeping track of how many of what sort are setting up shop?

PM Andius for the Teamspeak info and come say hi.

@Ratzap

We have been talking about who wants to run what. I will be running a Dwarf Paladin and a Elf Wizard(Arcane archer if possible). What are u thinking about rolling?

Placeholder Games Update

For those of you not aware first off, a final decision has been made on our placeholder game for at least the next few months.

Lord of the Rings Online: Landroval server.

It's free to play, and for flavor we are encouraging everyone to roll a hobbit a dwarf. I know it's a themepark, but Landroval is the unofficial roleplay server so there is fun things to do other than grinding.

We have also agreed to try Mortal Online when the Awakening expansion is released and may also try other games as they are released/their expansion is released.

We also are starting up an online Pathfinder campaign in conjunction with the 7th Veil. While the current one is full, we will start more as interest builds if we can find more DMs. The program we use is 15$ per player and 40$ for a DM if I remember right, but it can be used to play in many campaigns as you want and is not strictly limited to the Pathfinder setting.

Ranking Structure Discussion

While they may not be pretty I have our websites forums set up to the point we can post on them. You should be able to register and then post on our forums so let me know if you have any issues with that.

I've brought the forums into commission with a very rough draft of our ranking structure:

http://gl-gamers.net/?topic=ranking-structure-proposal

Please give input or feedback if you have any. I would prefer to keep the discussion on our website so it's organized and in one place but if you have any problems registering/posting there post it here instead.

Also keep your ears open for more updates on the ranking structure. I'm planning to add a section on guilds, and a proper format for the activity reports officers are supposed to fill out each week.

Scribe Needed

As some of you have surely noticed, I write a lot. And I don't always take the time to go back and edit out every error I make.

I could always edit my own documents, but if a member of the company would like to be our editor when it comes to formal documents... it would be much appreciated.

Basically you would be required to go through and fix grammatical and spelling errors as well as rewording things in a more clear and concise manner without changing or subtracting from their meaning.'

Don't worry it's only for formal documents such as our finalized ranking structure. Not for every post I make. ;)

Silver Crusade Goblin Squad Member

I can probably serve as editor. I'll join the page tomorrow. For now, consider me interested in the role of a centurion who focuses on keeping the surrounding hexes' monster population kept down.

I'm not big on placeholder games myself, but I am interested in the Online Pathfinder Campaign. May I ask what software you are using for it? Is it FantasyGrounds?

Yes, we're using Fantasy Grounds.

Goblin Squad Member

Have you looked into using maptool instead. It has lots of fiddly bits, but it has the advantage of being free. I didn't like it at first, but I run lots of PFS games with it now.

Goblin Squad Member

Andius,

I really like what the company stands for and would be interested in joining GL. I haven’t played any MMOs for awhile now, my only experience in EQ and EQ2. A ‘sandbox’ setting would be a first for me.

As for placeholder games, I don’t have a lot of time right now, but would be willing to get together for something if time permits. I also am willing to set up and use Teamspeak. I’ve used it in the past with my guild in EQ 2, but that was at least 4-5 years back.

For PFO, I know you indicated you are a military clan, but it also said you would like to have a strong economic presence with artisans and merchants, as well. Right now I am looking at really focusing on being a crafter for PFO.

So I would like to try out GL, if you will have me.

Oh, I would like to add, I have been part of a regular PnP Pathfinder campaign for about 2 1/2 years now, if that has any bearing.

Goblin Squad Member

@Andius: This is fascinating. How do you picture the Legionnaires operating in regards to bounties and bounty hunting? I'd actually considered looking for a Good-aligned group of bounty hunters, kind of a "put my money where my mouth is" sort of thing :)

I can see a lot of advantages in being part of a group like this. It has a whole "you mess with one of us, you mess with all of us" vibe to it, which is awesome for a NG group.

Silver Crusade Goblin Squad Member

As long as it seems like a legitimate bounty on a target who had truly done an evil act, I think you would be fine. In fact, in listing why we are NG, he mentions that a knife in the back ends a tyrant as well as anything else, so I'm 90% you are good to go!

Happy to have you!

Cool, I have a full license for it myself. I'd be happy to participate in the Online Campaign with you guys....maybe even willing to help out with some GM-ing. Although I haven't got much experience with FantasyGrounds yet. Send me the campaign info, if you are interested.

Valinar is running our current campaign which is full but he might need help DMing so you could talk to him about that. Or we may want to start putting together a 2nd campaign here soon and if you could run that... it might work out even better.

No I have not. It's mainly been JakBlitz and Valinar making this campaign come together and I'm not sure why they went with Fantasy grounds, but we already purchased the copies we needed. Because of that I'm inclined to continue using it but maptool might be worth looking at for whoever DMs the 2nd campaign though. I think Fantasy Grounds may have a much more robust system for running an online campaign but I'm really all about letting our DMs run things the way they prefer as long as our members don't end up buying a new program for each campaign they are in.

Getting involved in the Teamspeak is really the best thing you can do to get hooked into the community right now. Placeholder games are fun but really the most important thing is getting to know eachother, and that is what Teamspeak allows us to do.

As far as being a mainly military clan, that is true but the lack of crafters applying has actually been a small concern to us. Crafters are going to play in important role in the goals we hope to accomplish, so we are more than happy to have you.

I'll PM you with the details on the Teamspeak so you can hop on. We are running the most current version of Teamspeak which is TS3. I think you'll like the changes they have made.

I've always had a fondness for bounty hunters ever since the Bounty Hunters Guild on Freelancer. The only good aligned faction in every system fighting every criminal group, whether for money or not they were a force for good.

As a Great Legionnaire you would probably end up helping people without being paid a fair amount but we are going to going to be on the look out for mercenary contracts and bounty hunting jobs whenever possible as long as they don't require us to do something corrupt. Can't run an army without funds.

Final Note: Glad to see a lot of new faces and interest in GL! I'll send you each a PM with the Teamspeak info. If I somehow forget, or you're someone who's been in awhile that never got/lost the TS info just let me know.

Silver Crusade Goblin Squad Member

We didn't go with map tools because none of us knew how to work it. Fantasy Grounds has a much lower learning curve and one person already had the GM version. We should maybe get a second campaign going sometime and find out who is interested.

Silver Crusade Goblin Squad Member

Interested! I'll see what I can contribute.

I imagine you are planning to create New Rome?

Goblin Squad Member

I'd like to play in a second campaign if it happens.

If even more people want to play, I can think about DMing. I'd have to do it on maptool though, and I probably would not be able to start it up for a month or two. Maybe if there needs to be a third game you can tap me for it.

New Rome not sure of but, the ranking and name have that roman style to them huh? Wouldn't be a bad thing considering how effective the empire was at the time.

Hmm well in the Creation of our first PFRPG group we have discovered that the biggest challenge is finding a group whose time scheduals line up. This being due to work, other groups and various things. So maybe I can get talking to Andius about making a short application form. Providing everyone with information to better help form these groups.

Goblin Squad Member

Ryghamoc wrote:

No. I would consider Rome far more lawful neutral than neutral good.

We will have no aggressive expansion, slaves fighting to the death, or any of those sorts of things.

What we will have is a highly trained, well equipped, and hopefully fairly large military.

Rather than using it to conquer anything we can, we will use it to bring justice to the lands of Golarion. We will do that by supporting and seeking to unite through consensual treaties, those who love good, and driving back those who love evil.

If a kingdom or empire springs up around us, it will be made up of those who willingly join us. Not conquered peons.

Silver Crusade Goblin Squad Member

Well, in a sense, our goal is to be the kinder, gentler version of Rome.

Pax Romana (peace of the romans) worked remarkably well. If we can ensure that in our area, cities are free of oppression solely by the fear of our military might, then in a sense we have become the Roman Empire, minus some of its excesses.

Ok so, no slaves, conquests or gladitorial fights....

... but do we get to keep the dancing girls ????

Large, well proportioned, blonde dancing girls (Good aligned of course)...
oh and Mead too, don't forget the Mead (Good aligned Mead, of course).

Inquiring Ulfen want to know?

Yes. And the liquor. And the gambling if that is your style.

Chaotic good members are surely welcome within our ranks. ;)

Also sparring of the non-lethal sport is prettymuch the GL national sport. Helps keeps a troops in shape for war and it is fun to watch.

Silver Crusade Goblin Squad Member

I prefer my dancing girls a bit more LN. They do what they are paid for and don't mind being a bit naughty lol.

If I moved it to Tuesday could you attend? I am only doing it on Wednesday to give people more forewarning.

Well, Tuesday unfortunately won't work for me. Tuesdays and Thursdays are bad for me. But if it is better for others, I don't want to be the one holding it up.

Tomorrow, depending on the time, could work for me.

Goblin Squad Member

Well do one Tuesday and one Wednesday. Both at 8 pm PST.

Tomorrows will be a good chance to introduce eachother and get things started and on Wednesday will continue discussions, input ideas we have come up with over night, and do a quick recap for incoming members.

I would encourage everyone who can to show up to both, but I really want to meet everyone and have everyone get a chance to weigh in... so I think two meetings will accomplish that best.

Goblin Squad Member

8 p.m? Ok, how long do you think it will go for?

I get up early and that's 10 p.m. my time. :)

Goblin Squad Member

Those meetings are both at 1AM for me, so how long should I expect them to be?

Maybe I can go to 30-45mins of each and still get some sleep.

I have been using Fantasy Grounds for a couple of years. I looked at Maptools... I still like FG... just a preference.

lol even my Dwavern Paladin will be injoying booze. LG doesn't mean i have to be anti-fun lol. Heck its basically a duty of mine to drink and up hold "good" dwarven tradition. Its the law lol.

Silver Crusade Goblin Squad Member

Yeah, I was rambling along last night and decided that my Paladin (now without a name for the moment) is going to still set out to be pretty much the town guard, but *she* will be a mom, working to defend her kids. And that "mom" personality will kinda rub off on everyone else.

Should be a fun roleplay twist that makes me think in a different direction.

Goblin Squad Member

There is no set time for the meeting. Nor will I begrudge anyone if they dip out early. I would take the time to read the ranking structure proposals before you come though:

http://gl-gamers.net/?topic=ranking-structure-proposal

For those of you who read the original there is now a section on the four guilds, and some sample reports for a Centurion and a Guild.

Well be discussing possible changes, additions, and possibly removing some stuff or if you entirely hate the system feel free to propose something new.

Tonights Meeting

We covered a lot of issues and Alexander Damocles made his first appearance on Teamspeak. We will still be holding another meeting tomorrow to review tonight's subjects, discuss a few more, and give people who couldn't make it tonight a chance to weigh in.

Issues Covered

Champions: The will be 1 for each legion, and 1 for the whole clan. Determined by a tournament every 3 months. There is a corresponding award for each time you become a champion. Tournament consists of multiple scored events with the highest overall score becoming the champion. Probatus who win this automatically win a bronze laurel.

Laurels : Awarded for distinguished service. Three levels bronze, silver, and gold. Awarded for either an incredible accomplishment or consistent above and beyond service. Those who have not earned a laurel yet are referred to as "probatus." Laurels serve mostly to distinguish accomplished low ranking members who don't want more responsibility from fresh members.

Awards: Some difficult to obtain, some fairly simple. Award types can never be removed. Individual awards can be removed with a two thirds council majority vote. The military, the imperator, and each guild can add their own awards but changes to their award system must gain council approval.

Funding: Funding is brought in via cuts of the profit from guild events, projects, and contracts. Also it is brought in through donation. All members must be contributing to the company in some form. It is up to their guildmasters or commanding officers to make sure they do so.

Microphone: Required to be in regular military. Teamspeak is required for all members but a microphone is not required for the militia or guilds.

Militia: We are dividing it into three sub-categories.
Subsidiarius- Militia members who are active contributing members but primarily in a non-military fashion.
Evocatus- Mostly or entirely inactive members.
Tironus- Members of the militia who have not yet passed tryouts but desire to be regular military. Because of this the lowest rank of the regular military will be changed from "Tirone" to "Campigenus"

No. But if it were, it would be a radical success. ;)

10 hrs to the Next Guild meeting. Anyone interested in joining and want to come to the meeting should PM Andius for details on the teamspeak.
