Just a question, can a bludgeon weapon been made out of silversheen? Or does is need to be slashing?

Grand Lodge

All it needs to be is metal, or contain metal(like a spear).

I would assume as long as there's a blade, it's fine.

Silversheen: "Blades made of silversheen are always masterwork items as well; the masterwork cost is included in the price given. A blade made of silversheen has its price increased by 750 gp. Crafting a silversheen blade requires Craft (alchemy) 5 ranks and Craft (weaponsmithing) 5 ranks."

Short sword, sure. It's Piercing but it's got a blade.

Warhammer, nope.

For corner cases, I would use the Fighter Weapon Training groups if the weapon doesn't obviously have a blade. (Don't miss the Expanded Weapon Groups in UC)

Grand Lodge

What about a morningstar? Would that be available in Silversheen since its bludgeoning and piercing?

A morningstar is a spiked metal ball, affixed to the top of a long handle.

According to the fighter groups, it's a type of Flail.

(The Flying Blade is also a flail, but it specifically has a blade, while the morningstar just has spikes)

Basically, if it can be made out of adamantine, or mithral, it can be made out of silversheen. The fluff about blades is just that, fluff.

I realise this is some 9th-level Necromancy [Forum] here, but this question isn't definitively answered anywhere. Both alchemical silver and silversheen hint that they might not be usable on bludgeoning-only weapons, but their description could easily be taken as working best on bludgeoning weapons, getting the benefits but bypassing the penalty. I've marked the original question for consideration in the FAQ.

I've GM'ed exactly two sessions of Pathfinder Society play and already run into several things that haven't come up in years for me in my home games - but this question is the only one I haven't been able to satisfactorily answer, and since it will follow the player away from my table, I'd rather get it right.

NO, YOU CANNOT MAKE ANY WEAPONS OUT OF SILVERSHEEN.

You can make weapons out of Alchemical Silver.

This is Silversheen from the PRD.

Silversheen:

Price 250 gp; Aura faint transmutation; CL 5th; Weight —
This shimmering paste-like substance can be applied to a weapon as a standard action. It gives the weapon the properties of alchemical silver for 1 hour, replacing the properties of any other special material it might have. One vial coats a single melee weapon or 20 units of ammunition.

D20PFSRD incorrectly describes Alchemical Silver as Silversheen.

Any normally steel weapon can be made of Alchemical Silver, slashing and piercing weapons are just specified as doing -1 damage.

ANY WEAPON may be coated with Silversheen, and it overrides whatever substance the weapon is actually made of for its duration.

Queen Morgan, the earlier posts are referencing Silversheen special material from "Qadira, Gateway to the East" book.

Not the wondrous item you're referencing.

That is some confusing and ill-planned naming... the description says blades... ALOT. enough that it is hard to chalk up as fluff. it also makes zero sense; What about this material makes it only good for blades? what is considered a blade in this case?
so I agree that clarity would be nice here.

the At My Table answer: Anything that can be made of metal can be made of Silversheen. After all, it is basically stainless steel that acts like silver anyway.

My bad, I had the Alchemical Silver on my mind.

However the wording of the Qadira Silversheen specifically calls out blades. So the weapon must be bladed, not just swordblades, but any weapon with a sharp, cutting edge.

Perhaps the blade is welded on to the weapon, and not just used to make all the metal parts of the weapon.
