in a matter of weeks (a little over a month or so). weekly william is going to start carrion crown. there is 9ish players (not counting the DM). and i haven't confirmed what all of them will be playing. but from what i gather, we might have the following
Dwarven S&B Fighter
(Human?) Healing Domain Cleric
a Potential Cleric or 2WF build
a possible (summoner?)
and a (maybe?) alchemist (not sure which spec)
3 or 4 still undecided people and myself.
what should i play and what should i go with?
Allowed Races
Core
Bestiary 1-3 (0hd planetouched only)
Allowed Classes/Feats/Traits
Core
APG
UM except words of power
UC with the exception of variant rules (like peicemeal armor) and anything pertaining to firearms or siege weapons (such as the gunslinger), (stuff like the eastern equipment chart is fine)
DSP Psionics unleashed
pathfinder companion pamphlets case by case
inner sea world guide
weekly william is very closed minded on his view of classes, and outright cannot stand reflavoring/reskinning. he also restricts access to race/gender/class combinations that he sees as completely against the racial standards (like dwarven barbarians or aasimaar rogues) or have gender specific combinations (like male witches or female druids or cavaliers) he would rather have it, that if you are playing a character that forces him to heavily suspend his disbelief, that you come up with a 1 page (minimum) backstory and answer a 5 page pamphlet of questions as to what makes this special snowflake tick. for his critique.
what should i play?
trapfinder?
arcane caster?
reach martial?
archer?
hybrid?
and if so, what would be a good route?
1st level with maximum starting gold for class
25 point buy, try to avoid attributes higher than 18 or more than one dump stat
4 traits

Well number one is have 2 groups.
If you do play with 8 other players it doesn't matter at all what you play.
Play something you would never normally play because it doesn't fill a 'role'
----
From a power point of view hard to beat a Bard buffing that many other players...
just made an bard(arcane duelist) build on the other thread - i think this will be good fun and it should be great in such a big group.

I don't know how excited you'll be, but there's a character concept I've been tossing around lately. Not necessarity maximized, but both solid and memorable.
I'm picturing a gnome cavalier/paladin riding a lion or a rhino. He'd have full BAB, awesome saves, a few spells, smite, challenge, etc. The gnomish bonus to Con and Chr applied to a paladin make up for the loss of Str, I think. I was thinking of using either the emissary or gendarme archtypes for the cavalier and the shining knight archtype for the paladin. I chose a size small character since his mount can be medium and still get places normal sized characters can. A lion would work well here, with their jumping and climbing ability.
With the mounted feat chain he could charge with a +4 to hit and triple damage, allow his mount to strike also, then ride away to do the same the following round. I want to use a mount that geins a benefit from the constant charges, and the lion can pounce while the rhino has the powerful charge feature. You'll need to wait to have access to either, and it could be that the GM won't allow it. If it's a problem, you can take the beast rider archtype for cavalier and ride a triceratops for the same effect (and it's perfectly RAW). Using a lance gives him reach, too.
Since psionics are allowed, there are plenty of psionic feats available to augment this character of you like. After you have Mounted Combat, Ride By Attack and Spirited Charge (can be done by 3rd level depending on the archtype) your feats will be open. You'll probably want Trick Riding at 9th so you can pick up Mounted Skirmisher at 15th. That still leave plenty of feats open to go whatever way you like.
Anyhow, as I said, the character isn't perfectly optimized, but I think he'd be fun and would deal solid damage.

I'd advise against playing anything that relies heavily on mind-affecting stuff, as most of the opposition are immune to it. If you do make a bard, focus on the buffing and fighting aspect, not so much the mesmerizer part. Arcane Duelist is a nice candidate, as others have said.
Dirge Singer would also fit amazingly well - the ability to affect undeads with mind-affecting stuff will be a huge deal in this AP. And his other powers are nice too, such as getting more necromancy spells and better saves against death effects.

well, i was considering one of the following ideas
sheltered female tiefling (succubus blooded, but not effecting mechanics) Library Assistant (Transmuter Wizard focused on buffs and utility) who doesn't know how to deal with people besides her teacher/husband/employer who happens to be an archmage that doesn't want to be known. inspired loosely by Koakuma from Touhou 6, embodiment of scarlet devil with a hint of Makenshi Chrona from soul eater. may get a thrush familiar as a security blanket.
Tian Come and Get Me Beast Totem Invulnerable Rager Barbarian with a glaive. dresses in black leather (not the skimpy kind) and roleplayed kind of like a transformed Masane Amaha from witchblade with a (maybe) hint of Kenpachi Zaraki from bleach (gender undecided but leaning on female). in fact, watching witchblade inspired the thoughts
female chelexian/varisian crossbreed buffing oriented support bard (with a rogue level or two for trapfinding and possibly evasion/trap spotter) whose uncle is an earl. roleplayed kind of like ciel phantomhive from black butler with a hint of lelouch lamperouge from code geass and a small seasoning of sherlock holmes. uses archery feats to provide a small hint of ranged support. the inspiration was a prior character i wish to modify.
which one should i go with? they all sound interesting to me.
