I hate Nazis!
But, maybe, I could give it up for Christoph Waltz in Inglorious Basterds.

The only Guy Richie movies I've seen are the 2 Sherlock Holmes movies. Of the two, I like the first one best.
My 2 favorite scenes in the LOTR are the Ride of the Rohirrim, and the lighting of the Beacons of Minas Tirith from Return of the King. Both of those scenes are just majestic.
Who is your favorite Sherlock Holmes Actor?
You can use Jeremy Brett because "The Hound of the Baskervilles" was a TV Movie.

We've already done Double Indemnity and The Maltese Falcon, right?
If so, I say The Big Sleep.
What's your favorite movie about either blackmail, drugs, or pornography or any combination of the three?

Kirth Gersen |

Unfortunately, you've already mentioned The Big Sleep, which would be my top choice... I suppose Get Carter would be second.
Favorite Michael Caine movie?

![]() |

So many choices. I think I'll go with A Bridge Too Far.
Amusingly, he was in two versions of Get Carter and also was in a movie named for a Pathfinder class.
Favorite World War II movie that is primarily factual (as in, sure they could include some contrived romantic subplot or whatever other filler stuff, but not major made-up stuff like, say, Captain America)?

Kirth Gersen |

I'd say In Harm's Way, with Kirk Douglas, but it's based on a novel. It's all stuff that "could" have happened with a few name changes and so on, and it's in a well-reserched historical context and backdrop, but the major storyline with Douglas' character seems made-up, so I wouldn't consider it "primarily factual" -- I just wanted to put a shout-out to a movie I enjoyed.
Your question still stands.

Doodlebug Anklebiter |

I'm not sure where you would draw the line, but I'm going to go with Catch-22 although A) it's not primarily factual; and B) the movie is not terribly good. But the book is one of my faves!
Your favorite movie adaptation of a novel written before the 20th century?

Kajehase |

The Longest Day - John Wayne and Sean Connery in the same movie! (And Paul Anka...)
Favourite World War I movie?

Kirth Gersen |

@ Feytharn,
Cusack has surprising chops as an actor; I thought his performance in The Jack Bull was stellar; he pulled more than his share of the weight opposite Ray Liotta in Identity; and he manages to hold his own next to Gene Hackman and Dustin Hoffman -- which is no mean feat for any actor -- in Runaway Jury.
Just be sure to avoid anything he's in with Billy Bob Thornton (Pushing Tin, The Ice Harvest), because Cusack and Thornton together is a combination that's guaranteed to suck.
We now return you to your regularly-scheduled movie question.

On Her Majesty's Sercret Service (Diana Rigg)
1 A Midsummer Night's Dream (1968) (Rigg, Helen Mirren)
2 Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005) (Mirren, Sam Rockwell)
3 Moon (Sam Rockwell)

Depends on the movie. I enjoy going to the theater, especially to the giant IMAX at the Pacific Science Center where I get 6 "free" (aka, included with membership) tickets for every Hollywood movie that comes through. I don't enjoy paying big money at the multiplex for tix. For me, it's more of a price issue that causes me to object to going to the movies, not any complaint with the moviegoing experience. On the contrary, I quite enjoy going to the movie theater.
That said, I usually go to the theater to see big action pictures or family animated fare. Other stuff rarely gets a look unless it happens to come through the Pacific Science Center and I don't have to pay for tix (like, say, "Wrath of the Immortals" - I'd never bother seeing it normally, but it's at the PSC, so I might check it out, though it's not a guarantee - I never did go see Sucker Punch, for instance, even with free tickets).
Hottest "alien" chick in a movie?

Forrest Whitacker vs. Micheal Madson who wins?

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Probably Michael Madsen, unless it's the FW from Ghost Dog.
Who's funnier: Charlie Chaplin or Buster Keaton?

Miss Elizabeth Burke from 'The Faculty' (The Movie happens to have the sexiest School Nurse, too).
Favorite Robert Rodriguez Movie?
Sin City by a long shot. I like Rodriguez influences and admire his do it all myself spirit. However his movies tend to be really bad.
Rutger Hauer vs. Mickey Rourke who wins?

Comrade Anklebiter |

Not really a movie I liked, despite the prominence of Martin Sheen's union-steward airline worker pop, but Gordon Gekko instantly springs to mind.
Favorite Oliver Stone movie?
